Empty battery symbol on screen

Has anyone gotten an emppty battery symbol on their screen?  Popped up on mine the other night.  Plugged it in to charger and went to sleep.  Still the same in the am after 8 hours on charger.  Took it to 2 separate Verizon stores where they plugged it into multiple chargers at each store and told me the battery was dead.  Since I only got the phone for Mother's Day they shipped me a replacement refurbished phone but now want to charge me $300 claiming it was damaged?  Doesn't seem right since both locations said the phone was in perfect condition???  Tried to resolve with support with no luck.

Very dissapointed.

Hello cygnet,  I would love to help work towards a solution!  Is the new device working well at this time?  Were you advised what damage was found on your original device?  I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you,

Yes I am still having problems.  Just checked my current statement and have been billed $299. for a refurbished phone.

I have spent several hours on the phone with support only to be told my phone charging port had severe damage and they would send pictures.  1.  I have never to date been able to access such pictures through my e-mail or my local Verizon store in Menomonee Falls.  Vince (Verizon MF) also tried unsuccessfully to access pictures without any luck and told the support people that he inspected my phone prior to sending it back and there was no damage.  2.  The phone was fine up to the blank battery image popping up and it wasn't even in need of a charge when it occurred.  Both the Verizon store in Greendale WI and Menomonee Falls, WI ran diagnostics on the phone and plugged it into at least five different chargers.  How do I know it wasn't damaged then?  It was also very upsetting to have the first tech person @*611that I talked with on that Sunday, Jan.6th that it's your word against ours??? I asked to speak to a supervisor after that and was then told I would have to wait on hold for over half an hour which it was that long so I drove to my local Verizon store where Vince again was very pleasant and tried to explain the situation to the tech persons no luck either.  The last person I talked to was Clayton who issued an escalation ITT S ticket XXXXXXXX and said I would get a call back in 48 hours and he would resend the pictures.  Still have received no call back or further e-mail.   I also was supposed to receive a new charging device with the refurbished phone and did not so I still have to use the one I was using prior and having no trouble.  And now this "refurbished" phone will be out of warranty before the one I received for my Mother's Day gift.   Please help I have never before had any problem with your phones or service and am becoming more and more frustrated.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

I had to send in my device for replacement for the same issue but not in the short amount of time you had yours.  It would appear after time, the battery charger port for some reason or another goes bad and you have to try to manipulate the charger cord several different ways to get the phone to even charge which is inexcusable.
