Recently updated to ICS, now Ford Sync is uable to access my contacts. It worked fine before the ICS update. Any ideas? Though all my contacts are now actually in "People", Ford Sync can't find them.

I haven't even tried because I'm on my replacement, for a brand new retail price Razr, because of one problem after another since the ICS update. I'm on another board and some dude is being such a smart alec instead of helping. My issues include illogical typing, really off the map stuff, pressing one icon, say Facebook, but it opens maps, my screen won't slide, can't turn speaker phone off and on Are you having any of these issues? It's happening with both phones so it has to be an OS/phone model issue? I can't use mine to send a legible email or text ARGH!!!!!!! This is making my job miserable.

Ikk have you tried Replacing your Sim Card. i know it maybe far out from the Issues that your Razr is throwing at you but you might throw that in there as something to Check because Sim Cards can go bad..

No I haven't, but thought about it. I assumed with the original new phone at the store, they would have picked up on that when they flashed it and did their diagnostic - which honestly didn't look like a whole lot but I figured the system was set to pick up on those things. I keep coming back to the fact this happened the same evening after the new download though. I removed any apps,, and most are functional/professional only, except Words with Friends which I know only play when on my Nook, my credit union, CVS, and Redbox, that had negative reviews regarding compatibility with ICS - for example a brightness control widget - thought I hit the jackpot as that ties in directly to the screen, never even loaded on refurb, but didn't make a difference.

I have an '11 Mustang and mine is doing the same thing. I use my phone very little in the car, but with a manual transmission,
I need the Sync. I can still receive calls, but it won't recognize my contacts either. I plan on dumping my directory out of the Sync and reloading. I hope that works. I doubt the sim card would have anything to do with the problem.

I've got SYNC in my '10 F150 and not having any issues but, have either of you tried deleting all Bluetooth devices and re-paring?
If that doesn't work try clearing cache and if that doesn't work, an FDR is your next best bet.
Cache Wipe:
- Press and hold the Power button and turn the phone off.
- When the screen turns off, press and hold BOTH Volume buttons then press Power.
- When the white HBOOT screen appears, use the volume button to move down to “RECOVERY.”
- Press the Volume Up button to select “RECOVERY.”
- When the triangle and exclamation(Dead Android) appears, hold the Volume Up and Down button at the same time.
- Using the volume button, scroll down to “Wipe cache partition” and use the power button to select it.
- When it is done you will see another menu, scroll down with Volume Down button “Reboot system now" and select it with the Power Button.

Thanks Smash Ogre- That's what I did last night. Rather than just dumping the phone book, I deleted my phone from Sync and then set it up again. The code entry always takes a few tries, but I got it and now it's working fine.
av8vito- I would suggest doing the same. I bet that will do the trick.

Hope it keeps working for you, this is certainly diasappointing.....I have an 09 F-150 went through all of it. Worked for a day or two, then sync would say no phone connected. Also, before the update I had no problems with replying to texts with the pre-programmed ones on sync, but now I always get the message that reply failed to send. Nothing I do helps that. Any ideas? Are you having any text issues?

Shambo- I think I've only received texts twice while driving. My work drive is only 30 minutes and I don't do much texting anyway. I tried to respond once but couldn't figure it out and never attempted again. Sorry. I only use about 100 texts a month and approx 60 minutes of talk at the most. But I'm always on the internet, that's my main use.

Thanks guys!!! Re-paired my phone to Ford Sync, and now the phonebook works fine. I guess I should have figured that out on my own, but I assumed the software engineers at Google would have taken care of this. Wrong!!

av8vito- I'm glad you got it set up and working. Not to differ with you, but I think it is often a software problem with Sync. A good friend was a Ford dealer where we buy all our cars and he told us that they had a lot of problems with the Sync working correctly. My wife's will work one day fine and the next day it can't find the phone. And all she did was drive home and park the car. Jeez! When I got my Mustang I tried to update the Sync from Ford's website for my car and my wife's Escape. After an hour of cussing and pulling my hair, I gave up. I heard that I'm not the only one to fight it. While Android has its kinks, I have probably fought with Sync even more. The service guy that knows me offered to update them free, but I haven't done it yet. Just my feeling.

Ford was having issues with Sync from way back. They all offer to pair your phone because it is supposedly troublesome - I've never had issues quite like you two had described. When I get a new phone I just instinctually knew I should delete the old device and re-pair so maybe that's why I had no ongoing issues. I've alos updated my Sync software twice now and that WAS a pain. If you follow the directions on www.syncmyride.com perfectly you should be able to get it going though.
