I thought this stuff was supposed to be tough? I have had cell phones for 15 years now...never broken one. Well, a curtain rod fell on my razr.....not even from the ceiling. Hit the screen and shattered it...not cracked...shattered. So much for this stuff being 'tough'

Depends on what the curtain rod was made from. Also could have been the angle. if the rod fall and only the tip of the rod ht the glass basic jr high physics would tell you that all the energy built up from the fall would have been focused on the tip of the rod.

I have to say this, you dropped an object directly on your phone's glass screen, and you are shocked it broke? I have read so many forums of people thinking their glass screen's on their phones are suppose to be bullet proof. (LOL)

From the Gorilla Glass website,
"Visually stunning, lightweight, and highly damage-resistant, Corning® Gorilla® Glass is changing the way the world thinks about glass. It helps protect the world’s coolest smartphones, tablets, PCs, and TVs from everyday wear and tear."
Just so you know, "damage-resistant" does not mean it can't be damaged. Dropping a "curtain rod", possibly metal(?) directly on the glass would not be considered "everyday wear and tear."

Gorilla glass is much stronger when compare it to a regular window glass of the same thickness. The glass part on your Razr is extremely thin - regular glass that thin would shatter if you just tap on it. That's not the case with Gorilla glass.
