I got the Razr Maxx last week, thus far it has shut down while texting, it goes from vertical to horizontal view at it's whim.  Trying to figure out how to make it work is FUN.  The instructional booklet is a joke as is the verizon support..  I have 6 days left to return and that is a very good possibility.  Verizon will get paid it's penalty fee but I won't have the aggrivation of owning something that is not perfected.

Mine works perfectly.  It switches orientation when you change position of the phone from vertical to horizontal and vice versa.  It has never turned off while texting or anything else.  The phone is definitely perfected, but that doesn't mean yours is not defective.

Not Perfected!  What!    Heck mine hit the Dirt Yes i said Dirt an mine still Kicking Butt!  As for it Shutting Down any Phone can do that I don't Know how many times My Droid X has Shut Down an i still have it an it's Coming on its 2 Year!  The Booklet that comes with it is nothing more than something to Wipe you Behind with. The online PDF Manual has everything that a person Needs an if you Visit Moto's Site you can have the bigger Manual sent to ya. And as i mentioned Any Phone takes some Getting use to and 14 days in my book is not long enough but i don't make up the Rules at Verizon.. But as Jim pointed out if it's still giving you Fits as you Say it is Get another Maxx or Something else.

But i will tell ya Mine made a Believer out of me Today what happened an it's still working as nothing happened. <--that be Cool

It's Nice having the Full Manual Ann i had one sent to me on my Droid X when i first got it..

The booklet that comes with the phones are only the "Get Started" booklets.  Here is a link to the full manual.

Hi pjdombroski, I'm sorry you're having so many issues with your new device.  You should not have so many problems from your new phone. If you are still within the 14day worry free guarantee, we can replace the phone with a new device as long as there isn't any damage to the phone. I hope this doesn't make you loose faith in our wonderful service and awesome devices. I'm sure we will be able to provide you with a working device so that you can remain with our family. ^KH
