How do I upgrade the Verizon Message app on a Droid Turbo?

I had an upgrade to the Message+ app on my Droid Turbo but my wife did not. There was no update available on her phone. I reset hers back to default mode to see if an update would pop up but still nothing. Now she has an even older version. How do I get this to update to the newest available?

Did you check the Play Store to see if there are updates available for that application and others on her phone?

yup that is true, or you can also go to http://vzw.com/verizonmessages that will route you to the playstore page of your message app. (and you can update it there)
