I bought a new Droid Razr Maxx six months ago and now it does not work..

So I bought my new Droid six months ago because the battery life was supposed last a long time. Recently, my battery usage time has started depleting. The phone only stays charged for MAYBE half a day where I used to go over a day without charging it. It has also started shutting off at random times and freezes up often. When I make/receive calls, no one can hear me. My keyboard malfunctions as well.

My contract is not up until February of 2014. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to get a new phone (iPhone 5) without paying the ETF or the full price of the phone? Verizon has not been helpful at all and it is very frustrating because I have been a loyal customer since they were Alltel.

Hate to hear your phone is acting up.  You only pay an ETF if you cancel your line before your contract is up.  There is no way Verizon is going to give you an early upgrade of one year early.  Your choices would be to pay full retail price through Verizon, buy a phone from someplace like ebay, or purchase a phone through Verizon's Certified Pre-Owned Replacement Program (and the choices are limited).

Hello mmdm

I'm very sorry your not having great battery life and having other issues with your Droid Maxx. IWe can get this addressed! I appreciate your years of loyal service! The Manufacturers warranty would cover the same make and model device.

I wouldn't be able to offer you a different device. I can troubleshoot this device with you! Did this start after an application was downloaded? Please try powering the device in safe mode and retest. Here's a great link on how to power on in safe mode: http://bit.ly/QfA8MZ

Please try this and let me know if the issue persists.

Thank you

Have faith.  You will eventually get a refurb that works well and will last for a long time, hopefully on the first try.

If your Battery is starting to Loose it's Punch you can get it Replaced)  Motorola has a Program were you can send you Maxx in and they will Replace the Battery For a Small Fee but at least it would get through till you Contract is Up...

How can I replace the battery on my Droid RAZR?

There are a couple of things you can do before replacing the battery. Sometimes it's a matter of changing a few settings that will ensure you're getting all the power you can from your battery. Motorola Customer Service can help you with this process over the phone.

Before you call:

  1. We recommend that you completely deplete the battery by allowing the device to completely shut down when the battery has depleted.
  2. Once your product shuts down, plug it into the charger that came in the original box, and allow it to charge to 100%.

Once you've completed this charging cycle, call Motorola Support at 800-734-5870, and the team will diagnose your battery, and recommend setting changes or actions.
If your battery does need to be replaced, we offer two battery replacement options:

  1. The battery only replacement program lets you send your product to Motorola so that we can replace the battery and return the device back to you. If your device is within the warranty period there is no charge for this service. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $49 plus applicable taxes.

You can expect to receive the device back approximately 5 business days from the time we receive the device.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.
  2. If your device is outside of the warranty we also offer an expedited battery replacement program. For an extra charge we'll provide you with a FedEx label to return your product, the cost of this service is $69 plus applicable taxes.

You can expect to receive the device back 3 days after we receive the unit.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.

Are you sure it is not an app that is killing your battery? Before giving up on the phone, I would do a factory reset, and then run a few days like that (No apps installed other than factory) to see if the battery has improved. This will tell you if it is an app or the phone itself.

Make sure you back things up before you do the factory reset. (Contacts, etc)
