I read somewhere I think on here that once a month you should completly drain your razr maxx's battery...doe's that mean, i should leave it on till it shut's off then charge or run it down to say around 10% charge left?

I was told by level 2 tech support that this is not necessary for this battery.  You do not need to 'condition' the newer batteries the way you had to with the older batteries.  But this was after level 1 tech support had told me to completely drain the battery the first day...so it seems there is even some confusion on the Verizon end of this.

No, that's about the worst thing you can do for your battery.    Li-ion batteries do not need to be conditioned and don't have memory like older batteries.   They will last longer and perform better if you give them smaller more frequent charges.

If you look at Table 2 on this page you will see that by not letting your battery drop below 50% before charging you can triple the number of discharge cycles you can get from 500 to 1500!   A cycle is the cumulative value of one full charge and then the same amount drained - or in other words it could be 2 - 50% charges or 4 -25% charges.  It is  considered "end of life" if it can no longer hold more than 80% of original rated capacity.  So you can see that smaller more frequent charges will give you a much longer battery life which is especially important since the Razr doesn't have a removable battery.

That being said, in order to calibrate your battery icon meter if you find that it is not giving you an accurate representation of your battery status, you can turn your phone off, charge it to 100%.  Then discharge it to 15%, power it off and charge it to 100%.  This should only need to be done once a month however if you notice you have problems.
