ICS and Hotmail/MSN Server Deletion Issues

Hello all,

I am posting here after not finding an answer to my question. I am an active member on 3rd party forums and asked my question, but no help received.

Here is my problem. My hotmail/msn account will sync fine with my phone, but when I delete an email on my phone, it deletes the email on the server (well reloates the email to a POP folder). This was NOT the case with gingerbread. This is an account I share with my wife as our family email address, and it is not ok to delete it when my wife does not see it. It is also not convenient to move the email to a POP folder. I need to be able to delete emails locally on my phone only, with no deletion occurring on the mail server.

I have tried removing/reinstalling, using the hotmail app, and manually setting up the email account. With none of these helping I decided to bite the bullet and restore the phone....oh gawd, just a waste of 2 hours with setup.

Any help would be appreciated here, as my contact with Verizon yesterday yielded no results either. If any of this makes no sense please let me know.

I would try k-9 mail, it gives you a lot more flexibility such as leaving on server

Hello there Jaingo,

I totally understand the need of saving those e-mails. I found some helpful information on how to delete e-mails from device but not off server. Follow this link to find out how: http://www.midcocomm.com/resourcecenter/index.cfm/645/MidcoNet-Xstream--Email/Email-Setup---Droid-Ra...

Let us know if the issue persists.

Thank you,

Lena A.

I have the same problem of not being able to not delete emails from the server.  But I don't have any of the choices displayed at the midcocomm link above.

Initially, I was able to set it up initially to leave emails on the server before the local Verizon store re-loaded my software to fix a distorted audio problem.  Now that isn't offered as an option.

Problem solved 1/26/12

Do not use easy button for adding Hotmail account.  Use manual setup to add Hotmail account.

See http://www.cleardata-forensics.com/simplesolutions.html#droid  for details.
