I just ran the ICS update on my 1st gen Razr, and it drains the battery in about an hour. Anyone else having this unfortunate result?

My boyfriend's Razr died in a matter of hours this morning. He's probably made 0 calls and sent 1 text message. He doesn't use email or Facebook/Myspace, pretty much no apps period. He just got the phone a week ago. I had to set the phone up for him a few days ago because the salesman did nothing. There were 2 big updates, so I'm assuming it was this ICS I knew nothing about until coming on here. I can't believe there are no battery mode options on this phone like my Bionic and previous Droids we've had. His phone also uses data at weird times and I'm having trouble figuring out where that's coming from.

I will ask you the same question:
Go to SETTINGS | BATTERY and check to see what are the 1st and 2nd highest, and start there. As far as data, in ICS they give you a screen to see what it is doing. Go to SETTINGS | DATA USAGE and you can see what apps/programs are using your data.

Here's what I discovered that worked:
For whatever reason, Verizon and Motorola have removed the option under
Mobile Network Settings to switch to “CDMA Only” in the Ice Cream Sandwich
update that is headed
to RAZRs over the next few days. For anyone that doesn’t have a RAZR MAXX, this is a
problem, as LTE destroys batteries faster than you can charge them. In place of
the former “CDMA Only” option is a “Global” feature for those that travel the
world. Why they didn’t leave the old option and simply add “Global” to the list
is a great mystery, but don’t worry, we have a way to get you onto 3G and
saving batteries in just a few steps.
Instructions:
1. Open the dialer and type *#*#4636#*#*
2. A menu will appear – choose “Phone information.”
3. Scroll down until you see the pulldown menu for
“LTE/CDMA/EvDo/etc.”
4. Tap on that menu and choose “CDMA Auto (PRL).”
4. Hit the back button to get out of these menus and to your home
screen.
5. Wait 20-30 seconds and watch your 4G LTE logo turn to 3G.
6. To confirm you are on 3G only, head into System Settings and tap on
the “More…” button.
7. Tap “Mobile Networks” and “Network type and strength” and you should
see two see of bars

You could also use this app called LTE OnOFF . It states it is for the HTC Thunderbolt, but others in the RAZR forum have said it works on the RAZR fine.

Thank you very much for this help. I live in a rual area and I can hit a 4G tower if I stand in the correct position. Since my phone was updated to ICS it used the battery with in 3 hours trying to hit the 4G tower all the time. I can not believe some dumb a$$ changed that in ICS.
This resolved my problem!!
Thanks again!!!
