ICS update still causing headaches, on replacement phone as well

Look, there are many features of ICS update I love - I also know whenever new OS are rolled out there are glitches as I'm not tech stupid, but this is ridiculous as a professional who needs my phone and looking like an idiot when texting or responding to an email. Trust me, every screwed up email and text I make sure to tell them it's Verizon with a software update and no fix for the bugs.  I'm at the point of wanting a major refund to compensate for my hours spent working on both phones.   I will say customer service knows me well at this point and kudos to them for "trying" to help as I know their hands are tied.

Does anyone know when Verizon will have an update to ICS  to fix the issues with ICS - I really can't take it anymore.  On original phone and replacement I touch email icon on screen and it opens the Map, I try to call one person by using the contact icon and it calls someone completely diferent.  The amount of time I have wasted on something that was great to begin with and has the potential to be even better is outrageous.

What really makes me angry is the refurb phone I was sent has dark splotches under the glass that will sometimes interfer with a picture or video depending on the contrast, so NOW - not only do I still have the problem - I have a refurb phone with issues my new one didn't have.

VERIZON - GET OFF YOUR BACKSIDES AND AT LEAST ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND TELL US WHEN WE WILL HAVE AN UPDATE TO FIX THE ISSUES.  THE ONES I LISTED ARE THE MAJOR ONES - THERE ARE MANY MORE BUT I'M GETTING REALLY, REALLY TICKED OFF.

Has anyone gotten relief from this and does (yes I'm repeating) know when there will be an update for the glitches so I can use what the software has to offer?

I wonder if he did a master reset to fix the issues, but there must be something faulty on SD card thats causing issues, but since OP is not clear on them who knows. And we all know he will not receive compensation for his issues, to think that there would be one is "unacceptable".

been there, done that - started from scratch on both phones.

FIRST     - this "guy" is a female

SECOND - I clearly stated, I press home screen icons and it takes me to something off the wall, i.e. press maps and takes me to Facebook, press email and it takes me to maps.  To make clearer for you - if I call my husband when he is traveling late at night it calls someone else, yeah, that's pleasant, waking someone up at 2 am.  Press alarm and it takes me to gallery...shall I continue or did you get the point YET?

THIRD      - yes, hard re-set - no rogue apps, etc - went through the whole thing with the first phone - mind you this was not purchased as part of a renewal but was a gift and retail price was paid. Original phone wasn't even 6 months old, all happened AFTER ICS which I was looking forward to from the reviews on the Android Forums.  I've had cell phones since inception, back when Verizon was originally Sprint - waaaayyy back - so I'm pretty lenient on most things, for a time - this is my second Droid so I'm not a newbie.

FOURTH - No - I didn't contact Motorola because it's obvious all over this board there are issues and I'm not spending any more time when I have a job, house, kid, husband, life outside of tech trying to troubleshoot what is someone else's problem runnning downhill to me.  I have checked the website and nothing was useful to me.

FIFTH - MAJOR ISSUE OF ILL WORKING SMARTPHONE IS INABILITY TO TYPE ACCURATELY IN EMAIL, TEXT OR TASK LISTS AND CALENDARS - negating the $30 a month data fee I pay, if searching google becomes a torturous adventure just for a "quick" search due to inability for it to accept letters they way they are entered (yes I've resorted to a stylus with no improvement), I may as well have a feature phone with web access because I can barely use what I've got on this thing for the 2nd time around.   I can't even backspace to try and correct the errors because it will lock up and put repeated random letters like em, em, em, em.....and won't allow me to move the cursor to where I need to insert a word, at which point I need to soft reset, several times per day.  To me this is a major issue.  Touch the screen and it's a crapshoot what will happen at any point.  The exact same issue as the previous Razr I just returned one week ago.

Now, common sense would tell you that the name Lori is in fact female, the boards have issues all over, including reviews of the Droid Razr, and every software rollout since Windows 98 need bug fixes.  I would like to know if it's going to happen in the next week, month, year or what Verizon is doing to work with Motorola to repair.

Well, "Lori", your real name does not show up when you post. By default the word guy or he was used.

Thanks for the info and I apologize for sounding harsh on that matter.   After all the stuff they put me through to verify my account info just to get here I thought or sure it was on here.  I'm very frustrated an commonsense quotations marks really rubbed me the wrong way after 3 weeks of total frustration.

Look, your quotations marks really appeared condescending and I don't need one more issue to add to frustration.  I need to solve this issue ASAP and am tired of being jerked around.  IF you are technically superior to me, great, but sarcasm by "major" was not warranted.

On topic - I don't want an Iphone, I don't like a locked down market, not a fan of Apple.  My issues started with the ICS download and haven't stopped.  Immediately before getting home to read my email on my pc since that's the only way I can respond, I had to hang up on a caller because I haven't synced the bluetooth with my car with this issue,  and the damn speaker phone icon at the bottom of the screen under the caller ID picture wouldn't work.  That's a new one to be added to the list.  I am not using a screen protector which would interfer.

A Smartphone, oxymoron, is required for my job.  I am very frustrated and in this job market it's screwing with my credibility.

Jeez I just saw your shot about trying to solve someone else's problem and it being  my phone.  Please leave my thread alone.  You know full well I'm talking OS programming issue with the Droid.  Go away and actually get some commonsense.

The only thing I would recommend is reloading ICS manually. Maybe that would reset everything.

Thanks, I think I will call Verizon tomorrow morning before my frustration hits another peak like today and have them talk me through it so it's documented.  You gave me the first actual suggestion from anyone, and I didn't realize that was an option.  I'm still open for anyone else venting or Verizon to hop on anytime.

I really think that will fix it. Basically you would reload ICS and then load .215 which fixes the battery drain. I personally don't like ota updates. They cause more problems than they fix.

+1 on letting the store reload the software for you. If you've never done it before and have no desire to enter into that realm, it can be a daunting task to perform.

IKK, I had the same problem on my Razr for about an hour.  I was troubleshooting it and the culprit was the Facebook Application. I removed (uninstalled) the Facebook Application, and removed Facebook from accounts, and did a Factory Data Reset, and the phone works like a charm ever since. Even reinstalled Facebook and it works fine as well.  On my Maxx, I have Never had an issue with ICS.

Facebook does some strange stuff.

I don't even use it, never have on the phone yet when I disabled it in the apps, my battery life increased by 8%.

So, even if you don't use it, it's using you. Typical of Facebook.

Thanks - I was wondering why I couldn't uninstall it as the previous poster stated, that was a surprise...unfortunately I use it to stay in touch with some family, seems easier than email but I may just disable and factory reset or just call for another refurb (sigh) since this one has splotches under the screen.

I did that with the first phone and had a great guy - they've eliminated the service dept, bummer, where they were willing to keep your phone and work on it while giving you a loaner, but the CSR at the counter seemed knowledgeable and after flashing it,  it worked briefly, then as the day progressed it got worse.  He was against sending it back since it was a full retail priced phone unless I had no choice.  I purposely left all unnecessary apps off except email, and unfortunately Facebook, to make sure it wasn't anything I loaded.  So I may bite the bullet and just call customer service and try again.  ugh.  at least I'm off work today.  I actually do clear my history, cache routinely on every electronic device with web access from phone to Nook and my kid's no name android tablet.  Thanks.

U.S. Cellular still has there Service Dept. at there Retail Stores and there Customer Service is..i Heard a Top notch system better than that of Any body.. but that just what i heard.. b33

Agreed - if I could walk into the actual VZW store and leave the phone while they worked on it, it would be so much easier!
