Losing data transfer over WiFi

Since installing a new Netgear 7550 modem/router from AT&T my WiFi connection through a Razr has been spotty. I can connect to the network and browse just fine for a while, but eventually the WiFi indicator turns grey, and I lose the ability to download any data. I also notice that only the upward little triangle within the WiFi indicator comes on once the icon goes grey. I've seen several other posts with similar problems, but few solutions. I have done the basics of rebooting, restarting, and forgetting/refinding. This reopens the connection for a time but not permanently. Any suggestions?

I followed the instructions, but did not see Wi-Fi listed in the Apps listing. I went down the entire list and didn't see anything similar to it either.

I didn't see a way to "Clear settings" in the WiFi settings menu. I will say, however, that doing a soft reset of the phone will reestablish a data connection, but it will still only last a short time. I'm wondering if there is some setting I can change either on the router or phone to keep the connection permanent. I don't know enough about networking to understand Proxy Settings and how DHCP vs. Static vs. Auto IP settings affect the communication between the devices. I have an idea of what each means, but I'm not sure why one would be preferred over the other.

When in the WiFi, do you have more than one WiFi to pick from?
For instance, I have a secured home account and a guest account. There were also about a dozen others that were no longer in range. (Connect to the secure line. the guest will only get you the web.)
From the screen with the accounts, are you selecting the Settings soft button again. There should be two options pop up at the bottom.
Select the ADVANCED and see what the Sleep setting is. I keep mine on ALWAYS.
