I have 2206 contacts in my gmail account. My Razr Maxx lists only 2011, which means 195 addresses are missing from my Razr. Anyone know why or how I can download the missing 195 contacts?

No, your suggestions are NOT the reason I was and still am missing some contacts. I subsequently learned from Motorola that the android program automatically linked about 100 of my contacts. I had made two contacts for the organizations I serve...one listing the organization and a seperate one for the manager. When the address program synced, it automatically linked some of the business contact into the manager's contact. Why some and not others I don't have a clue. But, that is what happened. Initially, I didn't notice that some of my business contacts were missing until I tried to find a business I knew that I had but could not find.
I found the missing business contact in my outlook program and I found in my gmail contact list but for some strange reason I could not find it in my Razr Maxx.
I asked Motorola if they knew what happened. Eventually, it was determined that the contacts weren't missing, they were instead linked. Really? Who linked them because I didn't. Who gave the program permission to link them? I didn't. But, that was what was done...automatically. Then I asked if there was an easy way to find the linked contacts since I did not link them and didn't know where to begin looking. They told me "no." What I needed to do was go through my contacts one-by one to find them. Ugh. Since I had no choice, I tried. I found most, but not all, of the linked contacts and unlinked them.
I did it primarily by looking up the various managers and/or people who were associated with the missing business, Invariably, I found the missing business was linked to them. As soon as I unlinked them, the business contact suddenly reappeared.
I find it audacious that a program would automically link two contacts without first asking my permission AND asking if that was something I wanted done.
In any case, I hope this reponse helps others in the same boat. And if anyone learns of a way to find the contacts that are linked, I would appreciate hearing from them.

Maybe some have been hidden to do display? There are view options with the menu of the Contact application.

I read that the phone book capacity was based on available phone memory. How much memory do you have available? Maybe an increase in your card memory might provide sufficient room.

Linked contacts does make sense. I remember that some of my contacts were automatically link on both my Nexus and Tbolt during the first sync of the contact list. I can't find it on my Nexus at the moment, but there might be a way to just view the linked contacts. Then you can unlink them.
