Mobile Data Disabled

During the past two days, I have repeatedly gotten a message on my phone saying "You've reached the specified mobile data usage limit; If you re-enable data, you may be charged by the operator."  The thing is, I have unlimited data on my plan - and under my phone's Data Usage settings, there is no mobile data limit set.  Is this happening to anyone else?  It's a HUGE inconvenience, because even when I select "re-enable data", it doesn't always do that and so then I just reboot my phone... only to get the message again.

Saw from another forum where someone had the same issue, so they set their data limit to 100GB or some ridiculous number and that worked.

if you remove sim for about half a minute it usually fixes the problem

I tried popping out my SIM card for a minute, but unfortunately it didn't fix it.  I just set the data limit at 100GB, so no big deal.  I still don't know why it decided I needed this warning all of the sudden, since I hadn't messed with my data settings at all.  Oh well... Smiley Happy  Thanks for the suggestion, though!

I saw on another post that several people have had luck w/ doing a factory reset on the phone.  This just started happening to me this morning (it's happened 3 times so far).  I have the Motorola Razr Maxx and also have unlimited data as a carryover from my previous phone.  I've never seen this happen and, when I called the tech support rep, his response was "i've never heard of it...you might try a factory reset."

I also saw on the same forum the other person was talking about, that some guy set his data limit usage at 35TB to turn it off and he's not had any problems since.  The pain in the butt part is you have to scroll thru the numbers...which are in MB.  And you can't type the amount in.  Can it be more frustrating??

You can just hold/drag and it'll fly...I think I took mine too 500Gb or something lol. It really IS a PITA though if you're on an unlimited plan...

I too am on 'Unlimited' and had mine set real high to avoid the cut off. However, my wifes phone is coming up for renew and I am faced with getting a new plan as a result so I am intentionally setting my data back to around 2G so I can get a handle on using a limited data plan. AND I'm getting used to using WIfI whenever I can. I don't like the prospects but I'm gonna try to be proactive and get prepared.

I'm at 6.8Gb already for the month...I think I was around 20Gb last month but I worked remotely quite a bit and that really pumps it up quickly.

There are people reporting that they were able to keep their unlimited plan when they upgraded online.. You will have to check that out..

The wife is on a regular phone and we are considering putting her into a smart phone. So, it's gonna cost us more somewhere. Just where has yet to be determined. As a 'Friend and Family' on my account, she costs $9.95 plus all the taxes and fees to have her phone. A 'Smart' plan in the most basic aspect will more than double that cost and maybe even cost me my plan. Still got some time to investigate.

If you upgrade her to a smartphone, she will get her own data plan of 2GB / $30.00, you should still be able to keep your unlimited plan. You do not have to do the "Shared" data plan. Each phone could still have their own independent data plan.

Hi Droid,

Okay, that will be cool. I was/am concerned that they might force me into a new plan. I was under the impression we would both have to share her new plan (2, 3, 4GB or whatever). We're thinking about putting her into a HTC Ryhme because it's free and already has a cradle (turns her phone into bedside clock) and that would save the costs of a Razr Max and dock. I've learned a LOT about getting the most battery life out of a phone by reading this forum. I feel like I could probably at least get her through the day (she's a 2nd grade teacher and can't get service in the school) without needing to charge the phone.

Anybody here, ever had dealings with the Ryhme? I'm not adverse to getteing her a Maxx but she doesn't want to spend the money on the best when something else will work for free.

Anyway, thanks for feedback.

@Duewester - The Rhyme seems to review pretty well. That Plum color is kinda catchy. It is still running GB and only a 1Gz single core so it's going to seem pretty slow compared to a Razr.

Hi Smash, thanx for the feedback.

Slower. My thoughts exactly. But she's not a power user anyway. A few days ago, she wouldn't even consider a smart phone at all. Then she started seeing what I was doing with mine and her curiosity has gotten the best of her. I told her we'd get her a Razr but she says she just wants a phone that she can use in a pinch to do a Google search with.

Ain't it the truth.

OBTW - I tried to upgrade her yesterday and they won't let me just upgrade her phone to a smartphone with a 2GB plan without changing my plan.
