I also suddenly have no 3g/4g on my Razr Maxx. Got it about 3 weeks ago and it's been working fine. Noticed last night that the 3g/4g icon is gone and hasn't come back. Can still make and recieve calls and texts as far as I can tell, but can only get online via wifi.
Tried shutting off the phone and pulling the sim card and tried switching airplane mode on and off but neither helped. Trying to avoid having to do a hard reset..... Any ideas?

If you have tried these Suggestions an no Avail Call C.S. Option 3 an get with a Tech it might not Hurt to ask for a Tear 2 ask about the Service in your Area, Have them take a look at your Account to See if there is a Feature that needs to be Turned on or if there is something in your Phones Set Up.. This is the Best the thing to Do at this point. You might have a App causing the Issue you could put it in Safe Mode an See but if that does not get it Back Working Calling Customer Service should be your next step..
What is safe mode and how do I use it with the DROID RAZR?
Safe mode is a method that allows the device to run without non-essential applications. This is beneficial for troubleshooting 3rd party applications.
- Power the device off.
Press and hold the Power button then select Power off.
- Power the device on.
Press and momentarily hold the Power button.
- When the Motorola Dual Core screen appears, simultaneously press and hold Volume Up / Down keys.
- Continue to hold the Volume Up / Down keys until Safe mode appears in the lower left.
Disable Safe mode
- Power the device off.
Press and hold the Power button then select Power off.
- Power the device on.
Press the Power button.

Well, I called Verizon Tech support and they fixed my problem. Here is what they had me do... Go to Settings, then to Data Manager and make sure that the check box to the right of "Data enabled" is checked. Mine had somehow become unchecked and that's what turned my 3g/4g off......I have no idea how it got unchecked, but it did.

It can simply un-check itself my incredible Done that more than once an sometimes it took a battery pull on it to get it to Reconnect but a batt. pull is not a option on the Maxx. An as i have Mentioned in my other post it can an will drop that setting when connecting to Wi-Fi but it should revert back when shutting down the Wi-Fi. But mine didn't this one time so i'm keeping a Eye on it..b33

I had this same problem, even got a new sim card from verizon, the 3g/4g would work fine for awhile and then randomly shut off seemingly for no reason, I could still use wifi, but no mobile network connection (if you go to settings/about phone, it would tell me that I was disconnected). After getting the new sim card activated I still had no 3g/4g, so I found this post and like magic it all works again. I think I may know what is shutting it off, I have the smart actions set to shut almost everything off at night to conserve battery and only allow VIP callers to wake me in the middle of the night, so I believe it is this that is shutting the mobile data off and sometimes for whatever reason not re-enabling it. I will watch it more closely from now on.
Thanks especially to B33 for the solution.

I've had 3g/4g problems until I got my 3rd replacement. All was good for 2 1/2 months then I started having random reboots and it would get stuck in mid boot and I would have to pull the battery. I had enough. I got my Razr Maxx last week and I haven't looked back. The Maxx has a brighter and whiter screen, it's splash resistant, has gorilla glass and is faster on the move than the G Nex. Oh, the radios are a ton better and the signal is much stronger. I am surprised at how good this phone is.
