Droid Razr Maxx, Gingerbread. The camera light works fine for video, but with the still camera, even when it's very dark, there is no flash. The flash icon is dimmed, and tapping it gives a message, "Flash adjustment not available in this capture mode." What does that mean, how do I fix it? I've tried a couple of soft resets, with no change. Thanks.

There are some camera modes and scene settings do not permit a flash and it is grayed out. Are you sure you do not have your camera set to one of these modes or scenes. Unfortunately I don't have access to a RAZR with Gingerbread so I can't tell you what those modes are.

I want you to be able to enjoy taking all those amazing pictures sdl701!
Is your software up to date? Have you checked your resolution settings? Certain camera features may not be available with it set to the highest resolution. Has the flash ever worked?
If the software version is up to date and you have checked the camera resolution, I recommend testing the device in safe mode to rule out third party app conflict.

As I told Breezex, I finally figured out that the camera was in Macro mode, which was causing my problem. But, speaking of software being up to date, I have delayed upgrading from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich because of numerous reports on the web of people's Razr Maxx developing serious bugs with that upgrade, and everything works fine with GB. Is there a firm date yet for when an update to Ice Cream Sandwich, or a release of Jellybean, will be available for the original Droid Razr Maxx (not HD).
Thanks.

P.S. I know how to start a computer in safe mode. How do you start a Razr Maxx phone in safe mode?

Breezex, Thanks, I finally figured out that the camera had been set to Macro mode. Once I returned it to Auto the flash control became active again. When all else fails, RTFM!
