Now that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is announced with 4G and shipping this month...

How about some news on the 4G support for us xoom owners? According to engadget Galaxy Tab 10.1 orders start up on the 8th (http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/02/lte-galaxy-tab-10-1-gets-official-on-verizon-orders-start-june/) and it will ship with 4G. I don't yet have buyer’s remorse on the xoom, I think its a pretty capable device, but the 4G support did play a major role in my decision to not pick up a much cheaper galaxy tab and wait it out. (I'll leave out the SD card support for the moment) My xoom is only a month old but if they start shipping the galaxy tab 10.1 with 4G before I hear anything from Verizon on a schedule for 4G upgrades you can be guaranteed I'm going to be at my local Verizon store insisting on a return\exchange.

Want a good kick in the teeth?

Making me think twice about buying one, frankly.  Moto has really messed up on this one.

Really dissapointed with Motorola and Verizon, I bought my Xoom at the beginning of April.  At that time the reps sold me that it had SDCard access and also 4G upgrade would be done within the month.

Come to find out that, no there is no SD support at this time and the 4G upgrade is way the out.

Really dissapointed about this, what turned out to be exciting turned into a let down.  I had to manually go through and get SD access rather than the device shipping with it, and who knows when I'll have 4G on it.  Not that it's a huge deal but it's what was used to advertise the device.

*sigh*

{edit for TOS violation}

So do not discuss methods that have enabled advertised functionality of a device that was released without it.  Check.

I'm not upset I was modded, I violated the TOS that I accepted when I registered here, i'm just upset that my device is not as it was described to me at the store.

Yea, in my opinion TOS here is very touchy. This device has been built to support some specific things, and VZW is blocking them based on previous policy. It is something that Motorola is struggling with as well. The lines have become very blurry as to what is and isn't allowed.

wow - just wow. Kick in the teeth no kidding. I've had a couple good friends who were just about to pick up a xoom. I'm advicing them against it. I can't really say here what I wish to say here due to the TOS but I'll find a few other outlets to do so not that Verizon could care any. I feel like the 4G advertisement was a bait and switch and frankly I wouldn't be suprised if they find those technical hurtles end up being a wall. Time to see what my local verizon store manager has to say about keeping a customer satisfied, I suspect I already know though...

Hello,

I understand your concern about the 4G upgrade on the Motorola Xoom.  While we are eager for Motorola to complete the updatethere is no exact date.  A great resource about the process and to signup to be first to hear you canvisit: http://www.verizonwireless.com/Xoom4GLTEUpgrade.

Verizon did give a date 2Q of 2011.  We are now in 3Q, 2011

 The Motorola XOOM will be upgradeable to 4G LTE service at no additional charge in the second quarter of 2011.
