Well, after being "mandated" to do the 4.1.2 phone update last week, I had the need to look back for a date in my phone's Calendar app. to see when a particular fire call was that I went on. Lo & Behold, ALL of my Calendar entries older than 30 days were ERASED!!! Tried all the tricks in the book--shutting off the phone, removing the SIM card, turn off/on the GMail sync process--nothing works. Called Verizon Tech support & went through the Level 1 & Level 2 before they got in touch with Motorola Tech support. Went through the Level 1 tech who kicked me up to the Level 2 tech who plainly stated, "Google did that on purpose with this update." End of story!!! REALLY??? So, nobody else searches their calendar for dates older than 30 days???? Am I the only person on the planet that does this??? THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! At the very least, we should have been given the opportunity to choose this setting. One more thing I told the Level 2 Tech at Motorola, "Don't you think you shoud be telling the Verizon Techs this info so someone else doesn't have to spend 2 hours on the phone with 4 different people?" Oh, and by the way before you readers ask, Yes, I did try to MANUALLY enter events older than 30 days on my phone & guess what? They were erased the next day!!!
Other issues:
I also don't appreciate that my "Alarm&Timer" app is GONE!! I used my Timer for many things in the Fire Service. Now I have to look for a 3rd party app....AGAIN!!!
The phone has shut down & restarted on its own twice this week; When I get a text message, the phone will play my default tone AND it now vibrates--can't find a way to shut off the vibrate!!

The 30 day limit on old entries has been a restriction of the calendar app for a long time and has nothing to do with the "mandated" 4.1.2 update. At least since 2009. If you are interested see Google Android Issue 3672 https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3672
There are two apps called "Stopwatch & Timer"in Google Play. I use both because I can't decide which one to keep and which to delete.

Hello breezex, thank you for your input. Everyone I have talked to here where I live that use the phone Calendar app always has their older entries since they started using it. In fact, I seem to be the only person of all of us whose entries have deleted. Everyone else who did the 4.1.2 update still have ALL their entries, dating back to when they got their Droid Razr phones!! Go figure!!!
I will look into the Google Play apps you mentioned--again, thank you!!

When you add an entry to the calendar app on your phone the entry can go to several calendars. Look at the top of the calendar entry screen and touch the calendar location being displayed; it will bring up a list of calendars that you have access to. Entries stored on your phones calendar stay there and are under the restrictions of the phone app. Entries stored to Google calendars are stored in the Google cloud and are synced with the app on your phone. Not surprising that they may behave differently. My entries stored on the Google calendars are synced way back into the past. Since I don't store entries on the phone only, I can't look to see how long they are kept. I always assumed 30 days.

Hello again breezex, The top of my phone calendar entry screen shows only 2 things: on the left side of the screen it shows whatever view I'm set to at the moment (Day/Week/Month/Agenda) and the right side of the screen shows today's day in a box which looks like a Rolodex. All of my old entries on Google are still there from when I got the phone last July but anything older than 30 days will not sync with the phone. Before this software update, I could see all my entries dating back to July 2012. I cannot even put in the past entries manually on the phone because after 24 hours, they will be wiped from the phone--very frustrating!! when in the calendar app, I have gone into the Menu setting and made sure (as did all 4 Techs) that all the appropriate check marks are in place. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it. I wonder if iPhones have this problem too!!! Thank you for all your input, I appreciate it.

If you choose to add an entry you should have the calendar options at the top. Attached are screen captures of mine. As you can see I have multiple Gmail accounts and multiple calendars share and synced among several of the accounts. I store everything in one or more of the Google calendars and nothing in the phone calendar. All are synced with my phone. The last calendar that I used was my Medical calendar, so it is the default. The last calendar that you added to is always the default. If I pull down the little triangle on the bottom right of the red Medical calendar I get a list of all the calendars to select from. I never choose the "Device Calendar". Hope this helps.
