This is the 2nd time this has happened to me with two different razr maxx phones. Everything was fine and perfect, and then all of a sudden the power button quit functioning as if something came loose on the inside. My phone will only unlock when someone calls me or an alarm goes off which wakes the phone up, from there i can use it (text, call etc.) but once the screen times out it is useless once again.
Previously when this had happened to me i was able to do a soft reset which fixed the problem for about 1 hour then it just got worse. I was able too about 12 hours later get the phone on and was able to do a factory reset, to see if a software bug was the issue however, that did nothing but render the phone completely useless.
This time i am unable to do a soft reset, and WILL not try a factory reset. Has anyone else had this problem with their phone? This is extremely troublesome due to the fact that my smart phone is a substantial backbone in my day to day life as well as work. 2 times i think can not be a coincidence
I had this happen to me on one of the three Razr Maxx phones I have been given to resolve overheating/battery drain problems. I was instructed to reset the phone by holding the volume down and power button at the same time for "at least 4 seconds" and it should reboot. It actually took it longer than 4 seconds, but it did work and after rebooting it again responded to the power button selection. I wish the problem was that simple with my three phones.
I would say if there isn't a third party app that can can some how Turn your Maxx on i would get a Replacement..
