Is anyone else having problems saving contact ringtones?  I tried changing it and it keeps stay as default.  I've tried both the ringtones that came on the razr and also one I bought and it still says default.  I went into the contacts, went to menu, chose options, ringtones and chose the ringtone I wanted and hit ok, but it still says Default.  Any suggestions?

Ames92, thanks for your post. It looks like you are using the correct steps for setting up a contact ringtone, so I would like to help you resolve this issue. I was able to setup a contact ringtone and it did save the ringtone correctly. Are you choosing ringtones that have been downloaded or ones that come with the phone? Also, are these contacts saved as Google contacts or Phone contacts? Try adding a new contact as a Phone contact and see if you have the option to change the phone ringtone on that one. Also, if you haven't tried rebooting the phone, please do so then try setting up the ringtone again.

If still having issue with setting up the ringtone, try clearing cache from your Contacts application by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Contacts>Clear cache. As long as you don't clear data or clear cache/data from Contact Storage, this will not erase your contacts. Still, it is recommended to make sure all of your contacts are backed up via Google.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please let me know!

Go to contact settings and join if they are in your phone or just delete

I am having a heck of a time with Contact Ringtones, I followed your instructions, I don't have Google contacts.  I've tried to change the ringtone as described by Ames92 and no success.  I've only owned the phone for 1 day, I love it, but this is aggrevating!!

Droid Razr Maxx, system: 6.12.181.XT912.Verizon.en.US, Android 2.3.6

Any help is appreciated!! Bill

Motoblur: On Motorola’s phones, like Samsung’s, there’s an easy way to ensure that new contacts are always saved to Google. When you go into the Contacts application, go to Menu -> More-> Settings then Choose Contact Storage-> and it'll provide you with your various options to save the contacts to, Google being one of them. Give this a Try..
