Question on Screen Protectors...

I've tried, and wasted, three different screen protectors the first or second day I had my RazrMaxx back in May. And, yes, I'm very good at putting them on without bubbles or other issues. They simply won't stick to the screen. Once down, with unremovable bubbles and splotches, it pops/lifts right off. I'm thinking it has to do either with the nature of the glass or the nano coating that makes it water resistent/repellent. I've seen comments that people have successfully installed screen protectors so I'm curious as to which protectors were used and how the heck you got them to stay on. And without bubbles or splotches.

I also know about the water-based screen protectors like Zagg's Invisible Shield, which I had on my winmobile 6.5 phone. For the cost, I'm not sure I want to try that only to find out it doesn't stay on any better than the other kind. And, I'm not sure I want to risk getting water inside or under the glass.

I have had my MAXX for 2-3 months now, and when I got mine, I bought the Verizon screen protectors and had them put one on. They got someone in their office who does them very well, and had her put it on and you can hardly tell there is one there. I got the anti-scratch protectors, my wife got the anti-glare protectors, and wanted it removed in only a couple of days due to it making it darker. When I talked to the Verizon guy, they said that has been a major complaint from customers about the anti-glare protectors.

Hope this helps.

What i use on my Screen isn't a Screen protector instead i use a Cleaner called PROTEK its a GLASS/PLASTIC Lens Cleaner and Protector it makes my screen on my Maxx's come alive and they don't have that Sticky feel when you move your Finger across them.

I never got in to using Screen protectors and those one's by Zagg one drop of Moisture and that is All it Takes to ruin a piece of Equipment and i was told by a Rep the that Some how Motorola implemented a Moisture sticker in the headphone he said since we can't pull the Battery that was the only Location to put it..I tried to see if i  could see but if they do have it in there it even with a Flash light i could see it..

I wonder if that ProTek is similar to the stuff I use for my glasses, a spray called "Shield" designed for glass/plastic lenses without streaking. Sounds like it is, anyway. So, you got me thinking, well, why not try it on my phone? So, I sprayed some (on a soft paper towel) and then proceeded to clean my phone's screen. Clear, streak free, and oh so slippery to the finger which turns the ordinary swipe into a superswipe! Think I found my screen cleaner! And, alcohol free, too.

For what it's worth, I bought an Otter Box when I got the Razrr Maxx. It comes with a built-in screen protector. The box may be a bit pricey ($41 or around that), but it is so worth it. True, it puts bulk on the phone, but it does a great job in protecting the phone.

I've actually looked into it. However, I don't have that kind of cash on hand these days. Is what it is. Smiley Happy

That is about the amount of time I have had my MAXX in the OtterBox plus the Verizon screen protector.

IMHO, with gorilla glass and a kevlar case, you shouldn't need any more protection. I just use a pocket case when I carry my Maxx in a pants pocket.

The kevlar is a gimmick and gorilla glass is scratch resistant not scratch proof.  Sure they show people taking keys and everything else to it to make people all warm and fuzzy but keys aren't hard enough to scratch the glass anyway.  One grain of dirt or sand on the other hand is all it takes.

I've never understood why people put their phones in their pant pockets. When folders and clamshells were the rage (before there were smartphones and touchscreens like today), I could see sticking phones in a back pocket. They were much thicker phones with much smaller screens and the folding or clamshell action also served as protection. But I've just never seen the logic to putting today's phones in a pants pockets. Too easy to sit just the wrong way, or bump into something hard and there goes your phone. But, people do. It's just my point of view, not judging anyone.

As PJNC284 points out, there are all types of scenarios that can damage your Razr. If you're in a dirty, sandy environment, you may need more than just a case to keep your Razr safe. You need to take that into consideration when you decide on what's best for you. An Otterbox would give you three layers of protection, if you need that much. I used it on my BB and it would stand up to anything. Around the office I don't need an Otterbox and there is very little sand to worry about.

I was actually surprised that all 3 devices I've had prior to the GSIII ended up scratched and had gorilla glass.  OG Droid was my fault as I let it get in a fight with the driveway.  We'll just say it lost that battle.   Samsung Fascinate was babied, never carried in a pocket and ended up with a 1" hairline scratch.  I did have a case holster combo so not sure if some dirt got on the holster and sliding it in was what did it or what.  Thunderbolt had one of those 2 piece (rubber/hard plastic) cases and kept it in my pocket with a screen protector on it for most of the time ~14months I had it. Did remove the screen protector about a month before I switched to the GSIII and never got around to replacing it and of course I noticed a very small scratch when I finally received the GSIII. If you drag your nail across it, you can actually feel the scratch. I have a desk job so I'm not working outside in the dirt or anything so maybe I just have bad luck.
