RAZR doesn't charge correctly

I sent my first RAZR in because it had the white LED light, which means a soldering problem on the chipset. They sent me another one, but this one doesn't seem to charge well, AT ALL. It won't charge through the wall charger, I've read that you need a specific charger for the RAZR, but I'm using the same charger I used on my last RAZR. I'm forced to charge it through my PC, but it charges at a rate of about 1% every 3-4 minutes, which is EXTREMELY slow. Are there any quick fixes, because I strongly believe they sent me another piece of crap. I'm going to send it back in to get another warranty replacement, but if there is an easy fix I'd rather do that instead.

That's Not the Issue soldering Does not have a darn thing to do with it. Mine does the Exact same Thing An My Droid X does this as Well. You should of kept the one you had the only thing that Changed is when the 6.12.173 came out it dropped the the indicator witch flashed light green at first initial hook up an gradually got Greener till it was fully charged. An as for other Color choices from the Led if you Download the App Lightflow. You can just about set what ever Color or colors for a Notification, Ringtone an Vibrates can even be set. Sky's the Limit.. b33

The white LED light may turn on when charging using a USB cable when the phone does not have enough power to turn on. Once the display have enough power to turn on, the white LED light will turn off. (More info here.)
I'm wondering if your wall charger is defective as it seems unlikely that two Razr's would not be able to charge using it. You're right that charging using your PC will be slow. Do you have another charger you can try? My Motorola wall adapter is 5.1V and 750mA, if that helps evaluate any other options you have.

Sally before Motorola did the Update for the Razr's my Maxx would flash for second the White Led then the green would take over till it was charged on this new Update coming i hope it's thrown back in but if it doesn't i won't tear my beer But it was nice to have it because you could see the green get darker as the charging went on i actually seen this in my Maxx But like some of the move's Motorola has done in the past i can see why things are changed weather we like it or not..
As for The Op returning the first phone if he done it at the Corporate store the Reps should've known that it was not a manufacturing issue an stopped the return on the spot. I told him that: And i 'll add if it would have been a Manufacturing issue i would have returned my Droid X or even my Maxx long before Now! b33

Yes, my phone showed different LED colors if it was off (not while it was on) while charging before the OTA. But others did not. Very confusing. But now none of them do, except for the white one I explained.
The rep would not have known it was a default charger (if that's it) as the OP hadn't tried to charge the second phone yet. Maybe it's not the charger - it's just something I would eliminate as it seems hard to believe he's gotten two bad phones. Plus, I don't get the impression the phone is actually bad. It appears it does charge via PC, it's just slow (which is expected). This all points back to the charger.

I own the first one and the last one of that list.
The first one WORKED with my first RAZR, but not the one I currently have. I've tried both of the chargers, though. For some reason, I'm not sure if it detects the wall-socket as a charger. When I plug it in, it treats it almost as if it is connected to a PC, asking me if I want USB Mass Storage, Charge Only etc (I've already tried all of these.)

The last one is a SPN5504A an was Included with the Droid X i still have mine. But i hate the Stupid stiff Usb cord that came with it. My Favorite's are the 2 & 3rd Chargers..an my Newest one the 5th one..All these are O.E.M certified to work with all or Most of the Motorola Devices b33

The Razr and the Razr Maxx take alot of current to effectively charge at a reasonable rate (750ma/hr). This is mostly due to the 4G and the dual core set up. The charger that comes with it is okay, but goes slow if you are "tethered", playing video games, or keeping the screen on, etc.
I found a generic charger that supplies 900ma/hr that seems to help (I shopped by reading the specs).
When in doubt, I steal my wife's Ipad charger (it supplies 2000ma/hr)---I just plug my phone data usb cable into it since its a modular unit ---its great. Extremely quick charging.
A laptop only puts out about 500ma/hr or less (depending on how much is currently connected --ie portable hard drive, etc), so it makes sense you are seeing excessively long charge times. You really want about twice that to have decent charging times and still be able to use it. In a pinch, I would recommend you turn off the screen while charging, and disable the GPS/location features, streaming music, etc. if you want to determine if you have a phone (battery) or a charger issue. Good luck!

Hey Mark a Suggestion How about shutten the phone off when you charge it. On My Maxx i do it.. Takes 4 to charge it but but there are two good things it Does.. 1. It Refreshes the phone when you shut it off an turn it back on. 2. It doesn't take as Long to Charge it because of it being off the radios are not constantly trying to connect to the Towers..b33
One other suggestion you better make Darn Sure that Ipad Charger isn't to much for your Razr you throw to many amps at one time into it you could burn that Razr up. It's not my phone by no means but i would hate to see it get messed up by using a un Certified Charger

Well. Problem solved. Battery wouldn't charge via any source anymore so I sent it in for a replacement. The "Limited Edition" white RAZRs are all first-issues. So it's only logical they have the most problems. I hope this doesn't happen again.
