I was told this phone would have all day battery life. this is not true. I have had this thing for a day and a half and its battery life is awful. here is what i was told--8 hrs of web or 21 hours of talk. keep in mind my screen is set on a very dim level to help conserve power.
630 AM-- Battery at 100%. pulled it off the charger
640 AM -- on wifi, downloaded 2 apps and had a text convo with my girlfriend (about 6 messages total -- 3 sent, 3 recieved)
--battery at 96%
7 AM-- had a call with my boss (20 min).
--battery after-- 87%
it is now 9:45 am-- i have sent 2 emails and 10 text messages and have made no more phone calls.
-- battery life is 82%
This phone is a total friggin lie when it comes to its battery life. This is total crap. i'm going back to the iphone and staying there if this doesnt somehow get fixed. Droid can eat me.
anybody have thoughts or suggestions?

My thoughts are that different people will get different results.
I have friends with the Razr Maxx who routinely go 1-2 days on one charge. I don't know anyone with a Razr Maxx HD, though it is a phone I am considering. Then there are people reporting on these forums who are not able to get 1 day without "topping off" their Razr Maxx battery with a mid-day charge.
I also have friends who cannot go a full day with their iPhone and have gotten a case with battery backup because of it. I also have friends who can go 1-2 days with their iPhone.
If I see instances of someone not getting the reported life out of a battery, especially a new one, it makes me immediately think they are in and out of good service areas throughout the day which WILL decrease the battery life of ANY phone.

a fair response. I agree that this might be the case. I work from home however and have yet to leave my apartment or my wifi.

How is your signal strength for calls? This, not just data signal strength, can affect battery life, and a 20 min call with poor signal strength CAN sap a battery of life.
One last thought, with my current phone I normally get a full day when out and about, not so much when sitting in my office where I get 0 signal strength and as a result put it in airplane mode until I leave the office. Occasionally, I notice my battery life fall substantially and it is ALWAYS after I download a new app to try. When this happens, I immediately uninstall the app and the batter life returns back to normal. Not all apps are created equal and some are just power hungry battery hogs!
