Razr Maxx Refurb - need drivers - pc does not recognize the phone

My former Razr Maxx communicated with my pc with no problem. After 5 months I had to return it to Verizon under warranty (battery issues) and received a refurbished Razr Maxx in exchange. System version on refurb is 6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US  Android version  4.0.4.  System Update says "unable to connect".    Do not know what was on original phone as it is gone.    I backed up my contacts, they were restored to the new phone but nothing else (pictures, ringtones, play store was restored).  I copied the ringtones and pictures to my pc immediately prior to returning the original phone to Verizon, however the new phone is not recognized by my pc.  Have tried all usb ports, and am using the same usb cable used the same day which worked with my original phone.  The PC says it needs drivers for XT912.  Where do I get them?  Thanks!

Hi 219kimrod! I've had to connect my devices to my laptop recently. Although I didn't have a driver issue with these last sync events, I have had it happen before. There are a couple of things I recommend:

First, remove the existing driver. I presume that the operating system of your PC is Windows (thought I'm not sure which version). I recommend removing any existing drivers through Control Panel. Once that's done, restart the PC and attach your RAZR Maxx to the USB cable and the PC.

Also, make sure that you're putting your RAZR Maxx in Mass Storage mode. If it isn't, it may not be recognized by your PC.

I also recommend making sure that your USB cable is in good working condition. It may also be a good idea to connect the Maxx to another PC just to be sure that it can be recognized at all.
