Hi Everyone, I just received my New Razr Maxx (loving it) and I have a questions that I could not seem to find an answer to myself. Since the Maxx comes with a pre-installed Tasks App I would like to take advantage to the "maxx" so here is my questions. The app gives you the option to add an account, but it won't let me add my gmail account, does anyone know how to do this? Thanks so much for your insights

have you tried to add the account in settings/accounts?
i'm surprised, setting up the gmail account is one of the 1st parts of activating the phone.
without gmail you can't download apps/widgets.

yes I actually have 2 gmail accounts set up and the only option is phone storage, when you choose menu it gives you the option to add an account but won't let you.

Just so we're all on the same page with the issue:
You said : "Since the Maxx comes with a pre-installed Tasks App I would like to take advantage to the "maxx" so here is my questions. The app gives you the option to add an account, but it won't let me add my gmail account."
- the TASKS APP is Tasks on the phone .. nothing to do with GMAIL ... it will create & manage only LOCAL tasks on the phone as far as I know (I don't use it).
For other Accounts like GMAIL and other external accounts :
- Go into the APPS drawer, click on MY ACCOUNTS
What do you see? Is there a GMAIL account already there? (There SHOULD be, as Bearone pointed out).

Yes, there are 2 gmail accounts, I understand it won't let me add the account but it seems like it should, that's my point & question. Is there any way to add my gmail account so that I can use the pre-installed app instead of downloading one from the market?

PS - a quick search in Google Player (Market) for "GMAIL TASKS" show a boatload of Free APPS that you can install that will supposedly Sync your Gmail TASKS with the phone ... Might want to start there... But it looks like the defdault APP that came with the phone can't do what you want.

Thanks for the info, I actually already was using a task app from the market on my Droid X, but since the Maxx has a pre-installed one I was looking to use that instead. I just really wanted to know if someone knew how if in fact it was possible. It seems like it should be because when you go to the menu it has the option to add an account but doesn't actually allow you to add an account. Again, thanks.

You're welcome ... and I've played around with the APP on my phone ... I just ee no way to sync to External accounts other than what's on the physical phone's storage ... Not sure why it was intended that way ... good luck.

O yea totally understand! Same thing with mine i couldn't get my hands off My Maxx trying to cram every thing in my Head in one Day.!
But you know Koosh the Best thing that happen for me Was the 2 Hour Conversation that i had with the Tier 2 Tech his name was David me a David went over everything on this Phone He had a Maxx him self an he told me allot info but the First two things he Mentioned to me was Leave the CDMA/LTE were it's at.
And be careful Handling the Sim Card he said if there is anything that you want to pay special Attention too those two things are the Biggest. And after our Conversation he ask if i had set my Maxx up yet i answer no Sir i wanted to get some advice First an he said Great Let's get started He helped me through all the Steps..
Getting Back to the Battery Life it should improve it will take bit to get the seasoned in but once it does you should get more time out of it. I get darn near 20 hours when Streaming Music an as i mentioned i got 4 days when it's not in my Hands.

Just remembering the mess when we all upgraded our perfectly good DX's to FROYO and the subsequent fisaco and pure hatred spewed at Verizon & Moto ... it was very ugly for about 6 months, and then only partly improved with the December update to THAT ... But it all started with everyone clammering FOR FROYO ... just like everyone wants ICS now... fingers crossed.

I'm having this issue as well.
Phone and Software: Droid Razr with ICS
App: Preloaded Moto Tasks app
Issue: Can't get Gmail account's tasks to sync with app
Already done: Gmail account is setup on My Accounts. Exchange server email account is synced as well
Able to: Create tasks with app for Exchange server, but not for gmail account. However, as Kooshie mentioned I can make them device tasks. I want to be able to either sync the device tasks with gmail or just sync my gmail tasks.
Possible Reason Why: Looking around on the sync settings for gmail, it appears that "Tasks" is not a sync-able item. Perhaps the tasks found in Exchange are synced because tasks is included in Calendar?

I've found that other Exchange accounts work and show up in the Droid RAZR MAXX's tasks app. I have several Hotmail/Live/Outlook Exchange accounts setup and they all are displayed in the tasks app. Google tasks are not though, even though during setup of a Google Exchange account, syncing of tasks is checked.
I've used and tried to stick with Google tasks, but Google doesn't seem to really want to support their tasks (years of people complaining has resulted in nada), so I may have to go back to using Microsoft's tasks.
