Samsung Galaxy S6 Recent Apps & Back buttons won’t function after an update. How do I fix this?

You can backup the phone and try a reset, but from what I have seen if the capacitive button stops working properly its usually hardware.

Thanks for your response. The problem came after a firmware update. I tried factory default and it still doesn't work.

Unfortunately, it might be time to request a replacement from Verizon.
