Screen Cracks on Razr Maxx

I keep on reading complaints about the screen on the Razor Maxx being prone to cracking "for no apparent reasons". Is this pretty widespread? I just decided on that phone for my upgrade but now I am a little concerned. Any  feedback? Thanks

I've had my Maxx for two months: And even though i am a little uneasy on the Subject i am going on:  just be Careful with it Maybe a little more than what you did with you last phone..Since the phone is a little Wider an thinner it's twist ratio is a little more than say as the Droid X. If it it really bothers you though then get a Good case like the Otter box Defender or something like That..

But just have fun with it in a Smart Way! an you'll enjoy it like i am Mine Ok ! b33

Thanks B33. Otterbox protection sounds good. And hopefully I won't crack the screen while fitting it in.

Well when you get the Case it's a Two piece Shell an your will want to set your Maxx in the Bottom Shell an then put the top one on an then lightly snap it Together an then you put the Shell in the Outer Case Have you seen the Video of it if not i will link it on here for Ya..

I did see the cases (I think there are only 2 for the Maxx?) but have not watched the video. Are you referring to the video on the otterbox website?

Hi I had razr maxx less than 2 months and my screen cracked internally ,the gorilla glass didn't have a scratch no drop or in my pocket issue just charging it and led screen cracked. I had to go the 100 insurance route, I don't think any case would have saved it.

For the sake of adding to the public information, two days ago (Dec 17, 2012) my Droid RAZR killed itself (jokingly).  I got this phone new in March (2012).  Prior to the phone's demise, on about 4 separate occasions, I had a problem with EXTREME overheating -- the phone was just bearably touchable.  My solution to this problem was to power it off, and let it cool down.  Restarts would always succeed.  Well, two days ago, the overheating happened again, and I again turned the phone off to let it cool.  I restarted the phone, and all seemed okay.  Everything was working fine.  I slipped the phone into my pocket.  Just a few minutes later, I removed the phone to use an app (bus service information), and the screen didn't work -- it was all jumbled.  Close inspection at the correct angle under brighter light revealed that the internal LCD screen was cracked.  The phone has no external damage.  Very strange, indeed.  The phone was never dropped, abused or damaged!  So, I went to the Motorola web site, generated a repair order RMA, and will send it in for repair.  I suppose I'll get a call from Motorola and get to explain the problem in more detail, and I'll be without my phone for a while, but ultimately I need the phone for my occupation.

Bottom line -- it appears my Droid RAZR suffered from two problems that others have also had --

1.  EXTREME overheating.

2.  Cracked internal display, for no apparent reason.

I'm a Verizon customer.  I didn't waste any time talking with Verizon.

I'll update the post as the repair events progress

FOLLOW UP -- I sent my phone to Motorola via FedEx, and could track my phone.  Motorola's repair facility had my phone in two days, but waited a few more to acknowledge receipt.  After about 2 weeks, I checked the motorola website, and using my RMA, found that my phone was repaired for FREE and being returned to me.  However, no tracking information was avaiable.

Thus, I called Motorola.  What transpired was several conversations over several days.  I always stayed polite and calm, and recorded times and names and employee numbers when speaking about my claim.  Motorola somehow sent my phone to someone else -- they asserted I had signed for it, but I told them the FedEx tracking website clearly showed they sent my phone to someone else in another state.  I spoke to many supervisors, and have received (on Jan 3, 2013) a brand new Razr HD, as my original phone is no longer available.

I received absolutely NO apology, nor admission of error.

I expressed concern about compromised personal information (someone else had my phone), and the Motorola Supervisor's Supervisor stated flatly that I had no cause for concern -- all phones submitted for repair are wiped, and reestablished to a new-in-box state with respect to the software and memory.
