Screen Discoloration

I honestly do like the phone. It has good features and good screen size yadda yadda. I've had it for about 6 - 8 months. Plugged it in last night sent a text and the screen started showing purple and green transparency with lines in it. Now that I have screen discoloartion issues, though, it's appearing its going to be a large headache to try and not spend 100 dollars or more to get it squared away. Verizon wants to blame Motorola and vice versa all the while saying I can spend a bunch of money. I already did that to get the stupid phone and a contract for 2 years. Lord knows the phones aren't really worth 600 dollars, and no one is willing to just trade it in for a new one yet. I do have the insurance, but why should I pay an additional 80 - 100 dollars for something that's not my fault. If at the store, the representative sees it as a warranty issue they will give me another phone, BUT, if they send it to the factory and THEY see it as a physical damage issue, they CHARGE ME 300 bucks. Just like that, no warning. No, "we'll send the phone back" no nothing. Just charge me. That's a huge gamble. I don't just have 1000's of dollars sitting around waiting to be charged. In fact I don't have 300! I have seen this issue on a youtube video and another forum or two. I am going to the verizon store tomorrow after i try and reset it and call motorola again. Its just looking like I'm out of a phone for a bit and battling between three companies just to have someone stand up for their product. I have been a Verizon customer for well over ten years and if this issue can't be resolved then see ya Verizon. I've jumped through enough hoops over the years. I'll get a pre paid Virgin mobile phone or anything. I'm kind of wondering if anyone else has had these discoloration problems or warranty problems even. I just want to be treated fairly as I'm just trying to be a consumer who expects what he pays for. Maybe I should just expect junk though. Responses would be helpful.
