Alright, so im starting to hate droid razrs. I just got a droid razr maxx, after getting the run around of refurbishing my droid razr 3 times [vibration issue]. So on my 4th droid razr i finally got someone with sense on verizon support who offered me a maxx. So gladly i was happy with finally getting out of the droid razr problem. Now first thing i did was ask those the maxx have any problems with it. I didn't look anything up cause i was getting ready for the run around. They said no. So i receive my maxx. And within the first day. My screen start locking up. I was like must be just a start up thing. About 5 days later my screen freezes up whenever im tryna text, look at pictures on instagram, facebook.
Does anyone know why this happens, or a solution for it? I'd like to know if i could do something about it before i go and rant at a verizon store and give them a piece of my mind.

Put your phone into SAFE mode for a day or so and see if it's an app that is causing your problems. SAFE mode only loads the factory fresh system and none of the apps that you have downloaded.

If frozen, how do you get it into safe mode?

Have you tried holding the power button and volume down button simultaneously for 15-30 seconds to see if that will reboot the phone?

I tried safemode, i did it twice. Screen didn't freeze, but my phone reset twice on its own. Idk if that's normal
When i had safemode on i wasn't allowed to view statuses on a social app i had installed from the play store. I also had deleted that app and it froze on another app called kik. All these apps ran fine on my Droid razr maxx. You'd think the maxx would be able to handle this

as for this yeah i've done it about 15 times since i've had the phone. I rather just not do it consecutively. Got old after the 5th time

Next I'd try a cache clear. That will not delete any of your data or apps, but will cause the OS to rebuild a fresh cache and solves many problems with OS crashes and hangs..
If that doesn't work then a Factory Reset may be next. It will remove all of your apps and delete your data. Do backups before the reset.
If that doesn't work I don't know what to tell you since you are on your 4th Razr. With that many phones I'll bet it's one of your downloaded apps causing problems. Will Jelly Bean help? I don't know.

For what it's worth, those would be my suggestions/thoughts as well. Here's the system cache clear instructions in case they are needed:
Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
Press volume up/down simultaneously
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select

Yeah i did the cache wipe and full reset like on the 3rd day haha. What's jelly bean?
Well my first 3 were just regular droid razr's. And the vibration problem occured after the ice cream sandwich update i think its called.
And even after factory resetting those. The vibration lasted for about 4-10 keyboard text then it disappeared.
While typing this my phone reset itself .
I guess i can try and reset one more time and not install certain apps. But what good is my phone if i can't use apps.

Not all apps. Just those that are poorly written or the developer has not updated them for newer versions of Android.
BTW did the additional factory reset help?

I see 3 possibilities. They are:
1. Your phone is defective
2. Your software is corrupted
3. One or more apps is causing problems
I have had my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx for 14 months and NEVER had a problem of any kind. It worked perfectly on Ginger Bread, Ice Cream Sandwich, and as of today, Jelly Bean. I have never had to do a factory reset, but did one anyway a few weeks ago getting ready for JB.
I do not play games on my phone and do not visit social networking sites such as Facebook. I am careful about which apps I install and only install apps I need. I don't install a bunch of apps I don't need just to load up my phone with useless junk.
If I was you, I would delete all apps that did not come installed on the phone. Then clear out the cache and do a factory reset. Then, see if JB is available and install it. If you still have a problem, you need a new phone.

I did the cache wipe, and full reset. Now the only problem i have is i installed KiK messenger which is the one app i use frequently, the others i could care less about. That and also the built in facebook. And my phone froze yet again.
Was wondering if anyone could test out this KiK theory for me. I'm actually thinking of just keeping the phone cause im getting tired of going thru this
update : i did the cache again, factory reset. Factory reset again. Then i updated to the newest update they let me do. Passed any account's i could've added . Did a new gmail. Only installed KiK messenger. And my phone froze while going thru phone options. So i'm guessing it's Kik?
