Here we go again. Another new phone that I feel has been put right up my you know what.
A few weeks ago I exchanged a new Razr Maxx as it had a stuck pixel; if you want to know the details of my horrible experience with Verizon Customer Service in getting that issue resolved see my other thread.
When I received this new phone everything looked good though about a week later I noticed that the volume rocker, the hard key located on the right side of the phone appeared to be uneven, i.e. the volume up side was deeper into the phone than the volume down side. I could feel the difference (having to push harder to increase ringer volume), but everything seemed to be functioning OK.
Well fast forward two weeks and now I'm stuck with a phone that has a stuck volume up key. It's not always stuck, but pressing the key in the direction of increasing the volume shoots the volume to full. Then when one attempts to turn the volume down the key is simultaneously increasing and decreasing the volume, the indicator bounces around...up, down, up, down, up, down. With a little haggling and massaging of the button it will find a position of neutrality and then can be lowered to the desirable level, but I'm sure this is in a situation where it will progressively get worse, probably to the point where it's stuck on full and the volume level window is stuck on the display.
No no, it hasn't been dropped or damaged and it's been in a case from the moment of replacement. However I'm sure if I tried to make a claim that would be the method of operation from the end of Verizon and Motorola. Also, given that I've had the phone over two weeks at best I'd be offered a nice refurb.
These things happen I suppose and what am I to do, there are no viable or acceptable options for me.
I'd just like to thank Verizon and Motorola for the wonderful customer experience. May you enjoy the $3,500 I'm sending you over the course of the next 24 months.

Unfortunately all they will replace your defective phone with is a refurb. I just got my defective phone also with a stuck pixel replaced with a refurb. On the bright side the battery life on my refurbed phone is much better than my brand new Maxx was. The speakerphone also doesn't crack at high volume like my original Maxx did (at least so far). I know it's a PIA, but if you can't live with a defective volume rocker (and why should you) get a replacement phone.

I feel your Frustration paying what you did for an there is no Excuse for a Volume rocker to Act this way i'm a assuming it was a Manufacturing issue. If want to get another Maxx Hey i totally understand because it should work Properly an that volume rocker is an important part of the Phone as it is what helps do the Soft Reset of the Phone if it's not Functioning properly it won't do a Soft Reset Correctly.. I would make them get a another one and would tell them the reason for this is the importance of having a Function part of the Device to reset it. When needed..b33

you need to get the refurb. it will be your 3rd MAXX. the reason i say to do this is because they will often allow you to select something else, but only after replacing the same model 4 or 5 times. in the future you may want to give up on your experience with the MAXX all together. however, you will only "possibly" ever be given the option of a different device if they can see an awful history of multiple bad MAXX's on your account. i believe they consider the nexus and rezound "comparable" devices and would give you the option to get one of those after so many MAXX refurbs. OR.....you'll get the refurb and it will work just fine.
