Seriously? Glass broken from being in my pocket?

In my front pocket. I went to use my phone after walking and the screen is done. Top half is shot, buttom half has touch capabilities...but why did this happen? I'm furious that Verizon sold this phone to me saying it's durable...didn't expect it to break in my pocket without bumping into something...

Good afternoon, xTye!

I'm so sorry to learn the screen on your device has cracked! Motorola has built the device with Gorilla Glass and it is very durable, but not indestructible. Was the phone every dropped or bumped against any hard surfaces? The screen has several layers. If you can safely determine, is the crack on the surface of the screen or does it appear the crack is below the surface? Do you have insurance protection on the device? Please keep me posted.

Thanks,

It was cracked below. But still, all I did was walk. Plus, my headphone jack on my new one seems to be having problems. I'm just sick of this phone and really wish I could have a different one sent to me. I'll gladly send back the one I have now.

Gorilla glass is very hard, that's why it's hard to scratch.  However when they make something hard, it looses flexibility, and therefore doesn't handle being bent or flexed.  On the other end of the spectrum would be something like plexiglass which can be bent or flexed with ease without breaking but is also quite soft and very suseptible to scratches.

I would never recommend carrying a phone with gorilla glass in a pants pocket. (especially rear jeans pockets) Because those gorilla glass screens don't handle bending very well and can crack, but are extremely difficult to scratch because the glass is so hard.
