Text messages not going through?

I recently have had problems sending text messages.  I have tried doing a factory reset to the phone, and 1 day later...same problem.

It happens in some text conversations, not all and even then I can't tell if the texts are going through.  Just now it seemed that my texts weren't going through (green arrows) but I was getting responses.

Anyone else having the same problem?

I've had two people tell me they didn't receive my texts this week; this has never happened before.  These are texts regarding work and schedules so therefore very important.  In searching online about this issue I see that once upon a time Verizon used to have a checkmark to indicate a message had been received but they no longer do this (although it is still available for iMessage).  Some speculate it's Verizon's way to drive up usage with the sender issuing a follow-up.  In my case that won't work.  I'm switching back to email to send the work-related messages.

Can you assist me as well? I'm literally having a text coversation right now and everyone of my texts has the green arrow but the person I'm texting with has received the texts and replied. I'm on 4G with four out of five bars. I'm also having the issue that texts don't send at all and have a perpetual green arrow. This just started happening all of a sudden and it's quite annoyiong. My home zip code is 20020 where texts don't send at all and 21244 at work where texts are being sent but still have the green arrow.

We can definitely assist! We do need additional information in order to get this resolved. Are you able to receive text messages? Are you using the stock messaging app or a third party app? If using a third party app, please remove and retest with the stock messaging app.

Can you assist me as well?

I am having the same issue on my phone, it looks like the text still sending but in actuallity goes through 98% of the time to the person I'm texting. Not thrilled that I have to guess if the message was sent or not. I am using the stock messaging app, tried to restart my phone (fixes it for a day or so and then back to same issue). This is on a Droid Razer Maxx model xt912.

I am having a problem both receiving and sending texts with one contact. I use the stock messaging app, and my phone is the Samsung Galaxy S4

I have done both and they have not worked. This problem has been going on since before I got my Galaxy S4, when I used my Droid Bionic. The contact that has the lost text messages is another Verizon Android customer. This doesn't happen with another contact who is a Verizon Droid Bionic user. Also, when a text is larger than 160 characters, it sometimes gets garbled up with an old text. Is there a solution for this, or is it the same problem?

I understand you are unable to send a text message to one number only. Have you verified you do not have any text messaging blocks for that particular number? Has that number also contacted their carrier? In regards to the garbled messages, does this only happen on your phone or is this happening on the deviceyour sending the message too?

I am having the same problem not being able to text one phone number. I am able to call his phone. This seems to have started around mid December. Can someone help?

That does seem odd, mtnxr, but we would love to help. Can you receive messages from that number? What happens when you try to text it? Is the number stored as a 7  or 10 digit number in your phone?

The number is stored as a 10 digit number. His messages do not get to me either. When either of us sends a text message it appears to go and the report says delivered but it never makes it through. I text other people all the time without a problem.

Thanks for the additional info mtnxr, we'll get to the bottom of this! Fill us in on the details, do you have the Droid Razr Maxx? What carrier and device does he have? Have either of you recently made any changes in device? For example, moving from Apple to Android devices and vice versa?

I have the Motorola Droid M and he has an iphone 5 on AT&T No recent changes have been made to either account. I can text him from my wifes phone which is on my plan. She has an Iphone 4s.

Thanks for the additional information, let's get to the bottom of this! Are you using a 3rd party messaging application? Have you confirmed with him if he is attempting to send the message via iMessage?

I am using the text message software that came with the phone. I asked him and he says he is texting the same way he has for the last several years. Everything was fine until mid December.

My texts are not going through either. It started on just one. Now it's all of them. Can you help me? This is very disappointing since I only just started with Verizon.

This is not the type of welcome we want you to have, BlytheC. Do you have the most recent software version on your Maxx http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/system_update/droid_razr.html?

Have you installed any new 3rd pary applications such as battery savers, task killers, task managers, anti-virus (ex: AVG or Lookout), fast or quick reboot applications?
Are you getting any application name or service reference in the error message such as a force close error or a process name?
You can also clear any text message threads and retest. -Tamara

Hi Verizon - my 2010 HTC Incredible stopped receiving text messages today. Calling *611 and the voice is broken up so bad I can't understand it but other voice calls are working fine. Is Verison having some problems today, or is there something you can do to clear up my phone/line to receive text messages? On my family plan, my line is xxxx5531
