I tried downloading the ICS software earlier this morning manually (About phone, updates) and I keep getting "The update could not be validated. Please try again." Anybody knows what the problem could be.

Has your phone ever been rooted. Did you buy it new or used. Used phone are a hit and miss on whether they have been rooted or not. Many advertise no because they THINK they put them back to stock.
You can try rebooting your phone (Power + Vol down key for 8-10 seconds or until reboot). Wipe Data Cache Partition. Not sure any of that will work, but if nothing to lose by trying.

Same here, I've tried downloading 6 times, same issue. Going to call support.
BTW: My Maxx is 100% stock, so root is not the issue.

If you do contact Tech Support, please come back here and let us know what they say.
There seems to be more than a few of use with the same issue.
Thanks....

That is definitely ICS ... On the MAXX it should be :
Build 6.7.2-180_DHD-16_M4-31
System Version 6.16.211.XT912
very strange ... almost looks like you got a "partial" download or something. Will be curious to see what VZN Tech Support says/does to resolve this.

FYI ... this seems to be somewhat of a widespread issue with more than a couple users seeing this issue. The 'fix' so far seems to be a Factory Reset (apparently no need to FORMAT your storage cards though) .. If I hear of any OTHER solution I'll post it .. but for now, if you're in a hurry, a FR may be your fastest solution. (Assuming your phone is stock of course). Good luck everyone.

You will have the option to Format you data card & internal storage ... If you do that, you will lose everything - so make sure you copy any data, pics, music, ringtone, etc off beforfe starting ... You will also have to totally set up your phone again - all of the APPs will get reloaded after your initial logon to the phone ..
B33 did a nice job in documenting the HOW TO : https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/800326#800326

Thanks. Hopefully you'll be reporting back with a solution...or at least some useful information. Looking here and in the Motorola forums I see this is a widespread issue. I want ICS as much as the next guy but I'm not willing to go through the hassles of a factory reset.

Bad news.. Tech tried everything, pulled sim card reset, tweaked commmunications etc. with no luck. It looks like a factory reset or phone swap is my only option to get the update. I only purchased the phone 4 weeks ago so I'll try the reset.
Apologizes for taking so long to come back and report, I've been on the phone with Tech support all this time

I am having the same problem... I have tried downloading it about 12 times today! If anything.. I am just loading up verizon's servers as a way to say screw you.
