You probably have done this, but you have checked your in-call volume, correct? If it is fine, have you restarted the phone? What apps do you have installed, any that deal with phone calls?
I have had this problem in the past with my X. I did have a similar issue with my Maxx just yesterday and did a soft reset which solved it. I am very concerned now that this will continue to be a problem, when this was happening with my X I wanted to throw the phone out the window cause all sound would just stop! I missed several important phone calls and all they could tell me was that it was probably an app, sometimes I understand that it can definitely be a rouge app, but it continued even when I did a factory reset and didn't install the apps. I couldn't wait to upgrade then but I have only had my Maxx since the beginning of June.
I have had the issue were the sound has gone away but with a soft reset i was able to get mine going again.. but i understand were sometime soft reset's don't cut it..
