Trouble with texts sending sometimes

I have been having trouble sending text messages sometimes. It happens multiple times over a few days. It will keep saying it's sending. Sometimes even though it shows as sending, the message does in fact send. Other times it really does not send.

This has happened in multiple locations 40 miles away. I already got a replacement maxx from Verizon. I've been waiting for the to send a network team out to see if it's a tower problem for a week now. Even though clearly it's not a tower issue, it's happening with multiple towers!

I did a factory reset, tried play store messaging apps, cleared text messaging data, turned on and off delivery status, soft reboot...

I'll include a screenshot of one that just got stuck sending!

Go to Settings > Apps > All > Text Messaging and clear cache and data

If that does not solve the problem, then run your phone in Safe Mode for a day or two to see if a downloaded app is causing the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm having the same issue after trying both. Still not a word from Verizon. And the frustration builds Smiley Happy

Don't expect a quick response from VZW employees on this community forum. This primarily a peer to peer community forum where customers can assist other customers with their questions. If a VZW employee does respond, it is usually a week or so after the first post was created.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I meant a response from the network team, not from this forum.

Another thing to look at is: how many text messages do you have per conversation?  If you look at the text message app settings there is a limit and if that limit is reached the app has to delete some messages to make room for the new ones.  That extra processing might delay things long enough to confuse the wireless network.

Thanks for the suggestion breezex. That doesn't seem to be causing my issue though. As you see in my example screenshot it happens when there is only a few messages in a conversation too.

I get that quite often as well and I'm an expert/power user.  I have my message limit set to 1000 and it still does the same thing.  You can wipe cache/clear data all you want, it's still going to do the same thing while on  @admack, the only thing I can recommend what I do is just reboot the device.  Seems to do the trick for me every time.

Thanks for the info ejf74. Rebooting the device temporarily fixes it for me too. I don't think I can deal with it though, there are times the texts actually sends, and other times not. I am going to insist on an early upgrade when the network team does their research and says they don't find a problem, which I'm sure will be the result. Otherwise I'll pay the $250 cancellation, sell my maxx for $200 and switch to ATT.

Found this on another site and I believe it has fixed my issue.

Okay so with the most recent update Verizon made the switch from sending text messages over their 1x network and moved them to their LTE (and possibly 3g) network, hence the reason they are sending so much faster. Today I was in a classroom that is underground and has terrible reception and noticed that I was getting delivery reports again but that my texts were sending slower, like they used to. I dug around in the phones programing menu and found a new option call "MO SMS over IMS" and it was enabled. Disabling it switches your texts back onto the old 1x network. So if you choose to make the switch, your delivery reports will come back but sending will go back to being a little slower. To get to this menu open up your dialer and type in ##7764726. Next hit send and when prompted with a password type in 000000 and hit verify. Scroll down to SMS/MMS settings and select it. Next scroll to the bottom, select "MO SMS over IMS", and disable it. Now your good delivery reports back! "
