Update issues

Patriciahayes614

Since I installed the update a few days ago, my old emails keep coming back.  I receive an email notification and the numbers of incoming emails on my phone go insane.  It goes from 30 to 62 to 27, etc.  Also, I keep dropping the network.  Does anyone have any ideas as to why?  And how do I fix it?

There is a cache problem that Motorola and Verizon have talked about, and there is a fix out on the internet for it. You could also wait until a fix is pushed out.

There is now a .215 update to fix 4G radio issues in addition to the .214 update for battery life.

@ 88jnelson - It hasn't been officially released yet - when VZW pushes it you'll get an alert on your phone like you did for ICS. You can google around and find out more info that I cannot - by rules of this sites TOS, discuss further.

Hi, Patriciahayes614!

I'm sorry for the inconvenience of those emails repeatedly coming back! Are you still experiencing this? What email account is this for? Gmail? Yahoo? MSN? The community has some great tips and information. Please keep me posted if this continues to be a concern for you!

Thanks,

I am in the process of contacting Verizon now to remove the update.

If by "update" you're referring to I.C.S. - it cannot be removed. There is an unauthorized way to do so but I would not attempt it - it will violate warranty. You can try clearing the cache - if you can't find the many threads on the forums with a 'how to' post back and I'll send a link. If that does not fix it, a facotry data reset would be the next thing that I tried. Doing both of these cured most of the ills my Maxx had post-ICS

I don't even get any emails anymore.  I tried to delete and then to add to see if that fixed the problem but no success.  Also, since the upgrade, been getting this background data restriction message every 5 minutes or so and to remove it, I had to touch the message, only to get it again right after.  Any comments on all my wonderful issues?  Thanks guys

Look in the SMART ACTIONS for something like BATTERY EXTENDER. This is to extend battery life, but it turns the background data sync off when your phone goes to sleep. What the message is telling you is that it was disabled. If you want, you can delete that Smart Action and the message should go away.

Since the new update, my Droid Razor has no sound...just vibrates. All my settings are correct...any suggestions on how to correct this? Will not ring, alert for email or text messages...just vibrates.

Haven't heard of this particular issue before but you might try a cache wipe - if that doesn't work the next(and painful)step would be a factory data reset. Have you contacted VZW support? ( 1-800-922-0204)

Cache wipe:

  • Press and hold the Power button and turn the phone off.
  • When the screen turns off, press and hold Volume Up/Down and Power.
  • When the white HBOOT screen appears, use the volume down button to move down to “RECOVERY.”
  • Press the Volume Up button to select “RECOVERY.”
  • When the triangle and exclamation appears, hold the Volume Up and Power button at the same time.
  • Using the volume button, scroll down to “Wipe cache partition”
  • Use the Power button select it.
  • After that is done select “Reboot system now.”
