My Droid Maxx turns itself off. I can find no rhyme or reason as to why or when it does it. Am I wrong to think it should stay on until I turn it off? It has stayed on fine for almost 2 years and now it doesn't. Help! Thank you

The phone turns itself off or is it the wifi radio that turns off?

Check the sleep policy for wifi. Settings > wireless & networks > wireless settings > menu > advanced > sleep policy.
Your phone might have a slightly different path to get to the same location. It should be under the Wireless settings.

sandlady, thanks for keeping us posted. Have you downloaded any 3rd party applications to your device? Some application software can affect the performance of your device. I recommend that you uninstall a few applications, power your device off/on, and enable the WiFi feature again. Keep us posted.

Thank you Ann! Any recommendations on where to go from here? Could it be hardware related?

It sounds like the Maxx may have a mind of it's own, but we want to make sure we get the WiFi to stay on. Have you recently installed any new apps that may possibly affect WiFi?
Has the Maxx been soft reset (power off/on).
After that, how does it behave when in Safe Mode http://vz.to/1fA9pZf
This disables any apps to make sure that doesn't affect the WiFi signal.

Hi Tamara,
I don't believe I installed any new apps right before the problem started, but I wouldn't swear to it. I have powered it off and on several times but it doesn't seem to make any change in the behavior. I have rebooted in safe mode. It sometimes stays connected for an hour or so before it turns off. I will watch and update with what its mind elects to do!
Thank you for your help!

Hi Tamara,
WiFi stayed connected for 3 hours in safe mode so I suspect you are correct it is an app causing the problem. Is there any way to know which one or just uninstall everything that has been added recently?
Thanks!

Thanks for following up, Gail. It would be difficult to pinpoint the exact application. Typically we suggest pinpointing when the issue began and starting from there to find the problem application. Thanks for working with us.
