Will earphone/headset fuction on Razr Maxx?

I am interested in purchasing a set of waterproof earphones but I can't determine if they will function with the android razr maxx.  I was told by the manufacturer that the headphones are CTIA compatible but not OMTP compatible.   Is there any way for me to determine with certainty if these earphones will function with the maxx such that I will be able to hear incoming calls and be able to use the microphone feature?

Thanks in advance for your reply,

Ricci

I don't see either one of those abbreviations listed here on Moto's site under Maxx specs.  And as far as I know they refer to a wireless trade organization, not a specific specification.

So unless you find someone who has those exact earphones, I would suggest you either 1) email the Maxx's specs to the mfg/seller and ask them if the headset is compatible or 2) buy them from some place that allows returns if they don't work.

Thank you for your reply.   The manufacturer is not sure if the headphones will work.  I've searched the net extensively.  No one seems to have an answer.   I'll buy the unit.  If it works, I'll use it.  If it doesn't, I'll toss it.   It's not the most financially prudent approach, but I need waterproof headphones.  And, no else seems to provide such a product.

Thanks again.

Take your headset with you and test it in store. If it does not work there then you can try other devices as well and find out which one works.

Tidbits,

If it was that easy, that is what I would do.  The earphones are only available from an online store.   Thanks for your suggestion.

Actually it is that easy.  IF you NEED those types of headsets it would be purchased and on the way to your door.  Smiley Happy I would find what worked with them and then be done with it regardless of what's out in the market as I need those headsets to work.  You see where I am coming from?

To me it seems you don't really need them, and only want them.

@Tidbits, the OP is trying to "find what worked with them" - that's the reason they posted.  A philosophical discussion about 'need' vs 'want' does not assist in determining ricci's next step

@riccci, I found this Return policy on the site you referenced, but the issue of incompatibility is not addressed.  My guess is they would accept them back but you could verify.  Otherwise, I found the same headphones on Amazon for $20 less and free shipping.  Amazon is very good about returns. I don't think you'd have any problem returning them there if they didn't work.

They look cool - good luck!

Thank you for the tip regarding Amazon.com.   I've already placed the order.  When they arrive, I'll post their functionality.   And, for fun, I'll submit a treatise on the differences between 'need' and 'want' quoting from such notables as Skinner, James, Sullivan, and of course...........Tidbits!

I received the headphones, H20Audio model Surge Contact 2G headphones with microphone.  They work great.  Audio is received from both left and right earbuds and the microphone works as well.   So, in the end, neither Verizon, H20 audio, nor anyone else knew if they worked with the Razr Maxx.  Well now you know!   I can now make phone calls while I'm surfing! (PS-make sure you have phone in a watertight case!).

That's awesome! I'm glad they work well!

And thanks for posting back so others can know too.   Out of curiosity, do you leave your phone on the beach and they just have really good range or do you have a waterproof container for your phone?
