continuous notification sound

I get a continuous notification sound but no message when the phone is switching between 3G and 4G and the whole time it is trying to connect to wifi.  It's driving me crazy and I have taken it to Verizon 3 different times and they just told me to turn the volume off!  That is not a solution!!

My phone was doing the exact same thing and after much discussions with multiple tech 2 etc the only solution was to do a full factory data reset. as long as you save all you can save and make sure you have all your passwords etc saved its not too tough, but then again once you have went through  (5) razr phones like I have you get pretty good at re-doing everything....

Thx for the info!  Will I lose ringtones and apps that I downloaded? If so, can I save those as well?

Try going into Settings, Sound and ensure you have turned off Network lost tone, Roaming tone, etc, as these may be causing your issue. Good Luck!

You will be starting over at square one for the most part. Verizon tech had me download an app to salvage my text messages, it however did not save the pictures in the text messages, oh well.. There is some info that is saved on the sim card and doing the saving to the sim card is helpfull. regardless, your phone will hopefully work better afterward. I had the lucky fortune to have my phone go into freak out mode while I was on with tech so ...  anyway. good luck.

Did you try MyBackup to backup contacts and apps, it wont do personal data for apps but it is the simplest way to restore info and apps.  I suggest to allow Google restore contacts if you hard reset because when you log into gMail it will automatically do it anyway.

Are you still Running Gingerbread or Do you have I.C.S on Gingerbread there is a Setting Called Network Lost Tone that is in Gingerbread.. at first i over looked and couldn't find it on I.C.S but i did find it. It's Long shot but having it checked that could be where the sound is coming from.. b33

I was updated to I.C.S last month, about the same time I started getting all this noise!  So that may be the problem.  I checked for settings on network lost/roaming and they are cleared. I appreciate all the help.  It's more than I got at the dealer!!

Take it to the carrier store and ask the tech to back up your data and

reload ICS. That usually fixes a multitude of problems that cannot

otherwise be fixed through the keyboard...
