ok if i hit the gallery icon it shows old pics from my other phone on my SD card, folder for new pics taken on this phone, folder for screen shots and then folder for pics i save from text messages. due to kids prying eyes i would like to remove the message folder from the gallery icon. can it be done? i have tried creating a new folder in my files and moving the pictures there but now that new folder/file is showing up in the gallery list.
also when i go into look at all the files on the phone there is a star next to all files and folders, clicking on or off it changes from blank to blue, what does that mean
little more, i would think there would be a way to make a file/folder as hidden or password protected
I think I remember you could add a file to the folder called ".nomedia" without the quotes and it would hide the pictures from the gallery. You should do a search of this community or other android forum to verify this is correct and still works.

when my phone wont let me name a file with a period in it. think i need to download an file manager app first. what a pain, should be a simple setting on the folder options

In case anyone comes across this post in need of the same information. Forger The whole getting a file manager and then adding a file called .nomedia to the folder you want to hide. Long story short its a pain, really doesnt work good and i think i messed up some files.
Anyways i ended up finding an APP called keepsafe. VERY EASY!!! either go to your gallery and just like sending a pic to facebook or text just choose to send to Keepsafe. or open keep say and add photos from your files. EASY!!! to open the app and see your pics you just need a 4 digit pin code you set up upon installing that app
