Hi! I just purchased the droid razr maxx. I previously had a droid and used ringdroid to create custom ringtones but the maxx will not recognize it. I created the ringtone, set it and the settings say unknown ringtone and it will not use it.I have deleted the app and started over and also tried a few different apps and it still will not recognize the ringtone. any suggestions?

You might Try the Zedge app to get your Ringtones and Notifications there just about the Right Length but if you want to Cut theme shorter. One you download Zedge find a Ringtone of your Choice then Get Ringdroid and from there try to see if you can Adjust it But like i said Zedge has some really Good and not over Lengthy Tones..

You can also try phonezoo.com.  You can create your own ringtones there too.  Just figured out how to save the ringtones sent from phone zoo (their instructions for Razr Maxx are not correct).  Some of this info might help you save your previous one to the right file and be able to use it.  For Razr Maxx to save a phone zoo ringtone sent as a text:

  1. When you open the text with the ringtone, touch and hold on top of the speaker icon* that shows in the text message. A menu opens with the choice "save audio".  That saves it to your Messaging Folder.
  2. To get to your Messaging Folder, open all apps, and find the MY FILES app. Chose "Internal Phone storage"
  3. Scroll down to Messaging and open it.  Your ringtone should be there since you selected save audio.
  4.   Touch and HOLD the ringtone you want.  This should open a menu with "copy" as a selection...select "copy".
    ( **If you want to save several ringtones and a time, select your main menu icon at the bottom of your phone and choose  "select multiple" from the menu.  This adds little boxes on the list so that you can select several and do your saving to ringtones all at once.  Select menu...and touch "copy").
  5. Touch your back icon.  This will show your File selection again.   Scroll to "Ringtones" and open it.  Select "Paste
    here".

You now have copied the audio files that were saved to the Messaging folder in My Files and pasted them to the Ringtone Folder..the Phone Zoo ringtones will show up in the "Android ringtones".

*It matters WHERE you touch and hold since different menus will appear depending on where you are touching or touching and holding on the message.

  I use Ringdroid on my RAZR MAXX all the time, and it works fine. I would clear the cache of the app and try it. Actually, I just used it yesterday and took a snip of the song "Monster Mash" for my ringtone for Halloween....

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I appreciate you taking the time to help out.

@mdp79,

I too love personalizing my phone with ring tones so I understand your concern.

Since you're using a 3rd party App I would suggest you contacting the developer for assistance.

Remember you can always purchase ring tone for your phone online via My Verizon. That's where I purchased mine and have never had an issue.
