I can call mobile and land lines with my Xoom from within gmail. Its free in the USA/Canada.

here is how to use your Xoom as a phone:

In Xoom browser address bar enter

about:debug

then click the box top right hand corner, select

settings>>debug>UAString>desktop mode

Then go to gmail.com, buttom left corner is 'chat' "call phones from gmail"
