I just woke up and saw an unknown icon on top of the new Droid Turbo I just activated. Selecting it started some annoying video containing photos I took yesterday. What is this? How do I disable it?

Sounds like Google Plus and or Google Photos. Most likely those photos you took were synced to your Google account and maybe Photos "Auto-Awesomed" them and turned some photos into a GIF or movie-like slideshow. You can disable both apps in App Manager or stop them from syncing in Google Settings app.

I have all backup and sync options turned off. I think it's a "feature" in the Gallery application that came loaded on the phone. It has a Highlight Reel view and I see the same video listed there. Can't find an option to disable it. Wouldn't be bad if it was a movie of family or fun pictures. It wasn't. Don't need a mandatory daily video created from pictures I take. Maybe I just can't find the option to turn it off, but I removed the application from the phone. Hopefully I won't have an unwanted video waiting for me tomorrow. Will try Google Photos to look at the pictures on my phone. Thanks.

The Highlight Reel is from the Motorola Gallery application. There doesn't seem to be a way to stop the application from creating the reels in the application.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
