So how long will it take for everyone to get the update?

do you have to update the phone at all?

I think it normally takes a week or two and if you don't update, it will eventually update for you, at least that's how it normally works.

now if I get notice for update can I take my sd card out then run the update?

I just got the Jelly Bean update it it not bad
