Hi - is anyone else having problems downloading pics attached to text after running the 4.1.2 upgrade?
I've tried powering on and off - turning off wi-fi and just having data...(and vice versa)...to no avail. the text and pictures are coming from another verizon user....they have a "non-smart" phone.

Picture texts won't send/receive over wi-fi, you need to have cellular data turned on. Have you tried sending yourself a picture text? Sometimes that gets it working again.

No, not from the website. It is from your own phone. Send a picture message to yourself. In the TO: line put your own cell phone number.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Try sending yourself a picture text from your phone. You also might want to clear the text messaging app's cache.

ok -
plan 1: only data turned on - sent myself a picture text from my phone - still errors out.
plan 2: Cleared the text app cache as well as the text app data, then powered off then on the phone - for a while....turned it back on - sent myself a picture text from my phone.....still errors out.
geez....all was fine before the "upgrade"

Time to resort to a factory reset?

Have you performed a System Cache wipe since the JB update? I would try it, it will not wipe your phone, you will not lose anything. If you are going to do this, make sure you follow the instructions exactly, as failure to do that could wipe the phone by accident.
Turn the phone off and perform Clear Partition. Clearing the partition will remove any temporary files that may be causing the problem, but will not delete your files or settings.
- Power the phone down.
- Hold the volume up and down and power key down all at the same time until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu. This should happen within a couple of seconds.
- Press the volume down key until "Recovery" is highlighted. Press the volume up key to select.
- Wait until you see a triangle with an exclamation point in it.
- Press and hold the volume down key. While doing that, press and hold the volume up key then release them. This should put you into the Android system recovery.
- Press the volume down key until wipe cache partition is highlighted.
- Press the power button to select. You will be brought back to the Android system recovery utility when it is complete.
- Press the power button to select "reboot system now". Wait for the phone to boot.
Check to see if it cleared the problem. This fixed a couple of app issues with my RAZR after the update.

It cleared up a few issues I was having.. My biggest problem was that the new Motocast app would not work, I cleared the system cache, and it worked fine afterwards. There were also a couple of "little" things that it helped with.
Let me say it this way. It will not hurt the phone to do it.

Hi - thanks for the detailed instructions - tried that - - still didn't work.
I eventually went to Verizon store to have them contact tech support - Level 1 tech support couldn't fix the problem. Escalated to Level 2 Tech support - still couldn't resolve. Apparently the JB update has blocked my mobile data connection ...permanently. Verizon's solution? Since I've had my RAZR Maxx less than a year - they're going to send me a "refurbished like new" phone. I should get it today. Shall be interesting to see if it works. Funny how I spend $400 with them for a new phone and their solution is to give me a used phone that was probably returned for problems.

Me too. Every text with photo comes with message to download. Sometimes it comes through...Texts are from iPhone and Blackberry.

GReat info here. My Razr Maxx replaced an Android 3--three in total--one new and 2 refurbished. The phones got progressively worse. Bought Razr. No problem until Ice Cream update last summer. Spent an hr w/level 2 tech who fixed most of the problems. Jellybean update created new problems. If the system cache wipe doesn't work, it's off to buy an iPhone. Friends and family don't have these android problems.
