text messages with picture attachments

I have a new Razr, I don't have a simcard yet. Can someone tell me how to save a picture that was attached to a text message?  Is there a way I can e-mail it to myself

I think you mean you don't have an SD card yet; if you didn't have a SIM card, you wouldn't be able to activate your phone.

If you press and hold on the picture, you'll get a pop-up where you can choose to save the picture.  Or you can forward the text to your e-mail by pressing and holding the text until you get a pop-up where you can choose to forward the message.
