A pink vertical stripe is always on screen, except when screen off.

Off an on for the last few months I have had a pink vertical stripe appear on the left side of the screen (not far left, but about an inch from the edge).  But, for the last 2 or 3 weeks it does not go away until the screen goes dark.  There is no visible damage to the phone, and the screen is in what appears to be very good shape.  Any ideas?

It's a hardware problem. Either replace it or fix it. I would suggest contacting Motorola directly for your warranty repair options including sending the phone to the manufacturer for repair.
