Are the DROID razrs even getting ICS?

I dont know who to believe now.  I upgraded to a DROID RAZR (before the RAZR maxx came out) and I was told at the time of the upgrade that my phone would receive ICS.  Now, I'm reading that the RAZR is not on the roll-out list for ICS..  WTF!!

Can anyone please tell me if this phone that I paid for, and am stuck with until 8/2013 will even get ICS like I was told in the VZWL store when I bought the phone....

My advice, stay with Gingerbread, certainly if you have a Lapdock device.  ICS drops all the "dot station features" according to Motorola 2nd level technical support.

And in my opinion, my Droid worked much better with GB than with ICS.

As a result, my Droid4 which worked great with my Lapdock 500, is now pretty much featureless in regard to WebTop 3.0, and there is no option to roll back from ICS to GB once you make the jump from GB to ICS.

So $250 for the Lapdock 500 that I have owned for 4 months, down the tubes.

From the other forums, the drop of teh dot station features is a real sore topic.

Thinking about waiting for JellyBean?  Well that drops all WebTop support completely.

My Droid4 will be the last Motorola product I purchase for a long time.

Does anyone know if 'In Pocket' detection works in ICS? I can't find a setting for it anymore and it doesn't work automatically. Smiley Sad

I have looked all over and can't find anything about in pocket detection. I hear there were a lot of problems with it so maybe they got rid of it.

Today only for a selected group of individuals.  Not the mainstream, bill-paying masses.

Intriguing how VZW reps seldom, if ever, answer questions to posts.  Granted there are a lot of threads and maybe not enough manpower to devote to answering all consumers.  I find it comedic how they do have the time to devote to moderating posts that relate to TOS violations and/or the aforementioned items bolded by the moderators.

When inquiring about being a beta tester for software, etc., I was referred to Motorola, given the wrong number, finally got a hold of someone at Motorola who then referred me to someone else who has yet to call me back.

Incredulously inane!

Guess since I've posted derogatory comments, now I'm excluded from the ICS update.  Been checking my update software all day and nothing.

It does not roll out all at once. It has nothing to do with what you say on a peer to peer forum.

Yes I just read it.  It only rolls out to a "selected" group of individuals i.e. beta software testers, IT professionals, etc.  Meanwhile, the main masses (nobody's like me) will have to wait (what else is new) for it to come out probably in another six months.

Verizon has nothing to do with the software upgrade.  It is completely incumbent upon Motorola.

Lesson learned:  If I want the newest operating system for a smartphone or other device, wait until the newest device comes out so I can get the latest OS.  BTW, Ice Cream Sandwich is not the newest OS either.  Google and its affiliates have already begun programming another operating system whilst Ice Cream Sandwich has been on the market for almost an entire year.
