Last week I was forced to update to Android OS 4.0.4. The upgrade has broken the bluetooth connectivity to low energy bluetooth devices like my Polar H7 heart rate monitor I use daily for training. How can I revert to an older version of the OS to continue to use the devices I have spent significant sums of money on? Waiting months for the next OS release is not an option.

Did you try unpairing it and doing a Factory reset to the heart monitor?

You may have a twofold issue now. The ICS and the firmware of the device. There has been some traffic about ICS BT and car audio systems (in particular some BMW, not an issue I'll ever have though). My guess is that there are other BT devices as well that may need to update their firmware. In my opinion, not a bad idea anyway. I have a seven year old printer that I still check for firmware updates. Ya never know.

No, Polar and several app companies have all verified it is an issue with the ICS, which Motorola is aware of, but will not be resolving until the next release. That could be months. I don't want to wait until next year (winter is a few months away) to use the monitor so I wanted to revert to a previous version of the Android OS but I cannot find any tutorials on how to do so. The app makers and Polar are not going to be releasing updates to fix Motorola issue that Motorola has admitted they need to resolve.
From iCardio
Motorola has stated that the newest update has an issue with BTLE, and it will be fixed in the next ICS. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
