Camera stuck in selfie mode

My camera phone was working fine on the 14th, last weekend I tried to take a picture and discovered my phone was stuck in selfie mode. The icon to switch modes is gone. I have a Motorola Droid Maxx. I have emptied the cache in the camera app and I have rebooted several times to no avail. I have also started the phone in Safe Mode and that doesn't help.

I'm leaving for a trip in a couple of days and would really like to be able to take pics on my phone. Any help would be appreciated.

lizk75, We definitely want to make sure that your camera is working for the trip! Has there been any damage to the phone? Any recent app or OS updates?
