I live in an area that is supposed to have good 4G coverage, but... I don't. This wouldn't be such a big deal to me if I could get reliable 3G coverage, but... I don't. Even then, if I could just get the phone to perform when connected to my wireless at home, I could deal with the outages, but... I CAN'T! I have had sporadic coverage, at best, for the last few months, and I'm getting sick of it. I have restarted the phone, turned the airplane mode on and off, checked for updates.. etc. I haven't had data coverage for more than a few seconds today-- and despite showing a strong wireless signal, the phone still will not work. I'm not satisfied with Verizon's usual reply of "do a master reset." I shouldn't have to reset my phone every time I have connection issues--- My husband has a 3G only phone, and his works pretty well. He doesn't understand how my "better" phone can't accomplish anything more than a phone call. I have been a customer with Verizon for over 10 years, and I get a discount through my place of employment, which has made me stay a lot longer than I should have, but I'm just not happy with anything they're doing these days. Customer Service is nonexistent both in the Wireless and Residential forums, and I'm paying them too much money to let them treat me like crap. If you can't make your 4G system and phones work correctly, then don't roll out 4G..simple as that. Why don't they have to issue recalls like other companies?? They aren't giving us what we pay for!
My rant is over.. I am going to be switching networks.

Actually I hate to say this but I really think this could be a network issue not a device issue, recently my Thunderbolt has been dropping to 3g, 1x or simply loosing all data connection all together except when I am out by the stadium by my daughters job then I have a solid 4G data connection (From what I was told they have their own tower located in are) I am in Kansas City experiencing the same issue for a week and at this time I haven't had a solution presented.
If the issue was device related I would not get 4G every time I drive near the stadium, I have been trying to be patient but I am starting to dislike where this is going... I normally can work throw a number if known issues but this one has recently popped up without a solution.
Hope this is resolved soon but I will be back on phone in the morning.

Here, my -80dBm signal is down to -102dBm the past few weeks and the two towers I used to hit which are much farther away, I no longer hit. Now I switch between two that I had no idea about only a 1/4 mile away to the east and west. These two the signal stinks.
Tonight after work I am going to search for these two fathom towers. Would a network extender show as a tower?? One tower only shows 3 ft above the ground.
One other update, yesterday was my first time in a 4G area since the Firmware upgrade and it was useless.

What is frustrating is to be using Google navigation only to get the pop up
"No Network Found" because Google gets the navigation maps off the server.
May not be the best but I got Navigon from Garmin, the maps are local.

I agree with Wildman. I live in southwest Florida with occasional loss of data. I installed the restore connectivity app which helped a little. I went to Miami this past weekend and I was losing 4G every few minutes. Please no more changing sim cards. Its a total mess. It did not go to 3G. If it was a phone issue or sim card issue, then why was I losing connection so much more and often in Miami and not where I live? Maybe Verizon was having a bad day in Miami that day! I strongly believe it is an authentication problem that the phones try to do every once in a while. And big red is not treating the problem properly.

Well it appears that replacing the SIM in my TB resolved my data issue, this is the first time I experianced this issue..
Another thing, my PRL was almost a month and half old and the techs forced the update..
All resolved for now, hope it continues.

B33, please remember that your PRL reflects that your have an Alltel plan. Users with a Verizon Wireless plan have a different number sequence.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Went to the local VZW store and they swapped out the sim card. Will see if
that helps.

My PRL is 14011 too. I always wondered if I had a Verizon data plan and corresponding PRL if I might have a better signal. I have a 4G LTE tower less than 1/4 mile from my house. Any input would be useful.

You have a alltel PRL just like mine has your 4G indicator flipped from blue to white several time. My Maxx acted as if it did not want to Connect hardly at all when i was in Wichita i called Tech an ask if the 4G was down an the Tier 2 out of Little Rock checked the Area an said no alerts were present an then he asked about my PRL he said there was a New one 15085 i think an he was going to push it to my Maxx until he found out i had a Alltel plan structure an he said that 14011 was the Current one..It was funny after i left Wichita the indicator went back to 3G an the phone is working as did before i went over in that Area..

I'm having sporadic connection issues on my Razr Maxx the last few days also. I've owned the phone for a few months and have never had this issue before. It drops its connection and I can't text or even make a call. I've never had issues with my 4G in this area (Scranton, PA) but even changing over to CDMA only doesn't resolve the issue. Very frustrating!

I have had the same issues from day one on the maxx. Called Verizon they said get a new sim card and that had no effect. Called Verizon again and got a new maxx last week but same results. Called Verizon yet again they said it was the phone, called Motorola they said it was Verizon. So who do you believe? I believe both actually, these phones are not the best and the 4G network still needs work. Switched my phone to cdma (3G) only and phone works just fine. Verizon rep told me NOT to do this because i would not get to use there 4G speeds and i told her there are no speeds when the 4G doesn't work, which is never on my phone.
